I think that some of my favorite genres to write about or read are horror and romances. While I myself gravitate to writing things with action and thrills, I have begun to touch my foot into horror and I find I adore it. Horror itself can be a very tricky thing to write, but when you successfully give yourself a chill or make yourself a little restless it is incredibly rewarding. Horror is a deeply creative, if not the most creative (in my opinion), writing format and when it is written well it is so much fun. Reading a story that makes you sweat and shift in your seat just with simple words is incredible and an art form all in itself. Those stories are also very flexible and deeply personal medium to write as not many people share the same dread or fear. The same thing can be said for romances as well. A proper romance needs to have layers and depth, just in the opposite direction of Horror. The same way a horror can have a wide range of fears, a romance can include a wealth of different methods for its warm feelings. While I haven’t touched romances directly, some of my stories include it and I would say it can be seen as a foundational element to action stories and other many other genres, even horror.
