Seven months ago I published the paperback version of my book Illustrated Book About Birds. Today the hardcover version officially joined the party. Hardcover formatting turned out to be its own puzzle — margins, spine width, and wrap alignment — and after communicating with KDP support for weeks, my (fourth!) proof arrived this morning and everything finally lined up. Clicked publish and did a little victory dance. I might do a victory lap and skip around my neighborhood on this freakishly warm 70-degree day. The sunshine is worth skipping to.
