Being Stuck vs Misalignment - Part 3
StoryTellers, I want to share something that took me too long to learn. I once spent 6 months "stuck" on a script. I tried every productivity hack, every outline method, every writing sprint. Nothing worked. Then I asked myself: "Am I actually stuck, or is this project asking me to be someone I'm not?" Turns out, it was misalignment burnout. The story was technically fine. But it didn't match the writer I was becoming, the themes I actually cared about, the voice I was growing into. The moment I permitted myself to pivot (not quit but pivot), the energy came back. So here's my question for you, StoryTellers: Are you stuck on your project, or are you facing misalignment burnout? And if it's the second one, what's one small way you could realign this project with who you are now, instead of who you were when you started it? Would love to hear where you're at.

Most of the writing that I do is writing my feelings into poetry as a form of self therapy. For whatever reason, I haven't felt like writing for almost the last 15 years, but suddenly over the last year and a half, I've been having ideas pop into my head, so I write notes and come back to them, so on and so forth. I used to write short stories from time to time, but mostly just stuck to my poetry. Until recently. I've had this idea for a story playing in my head for going on 3 years. I see it as a television series in my head, so that's how ive been writing it, in screenplay format in episodes. In my head, I've got 4 seasons worth of plot and character Arcs, but I've managed to get only the first and a little bit of the second season written down, but all of a sudden, I can't bring myself to focus on working on it. The story still excites me, and one suggestion I've come across is collaborating with a couple of my friends that are already published writers, and stepping back into more of a showrunner position, so I've shifted my focus instead to working on creating a bible for my series, so that when I'm ready I can present it to them and they could offer input and we could all write the story together. One of my potential collaborators has military experience, which would benefit my project because it is a rebellion saga, and would benefit from his knowledge of strategies and trauma. My other collaborator has already created her own world across three books and would bring a softer heart and feel to the world that is being taken over and eventually fought back for. She would also bring a female point of view for the main protagonist of the series, who is also female. Part of me says that I should just sit down and do it myself, but another part knows the strengths bringing in other writers would bring to the project. I have always been supercritical of myself, its tied to a bunch of things I'm working on within myself, self esteem and whatnot. THAT part of me keeps telling me that by bringing in other writers would make myself the weak link in the chain, and fighting those thoughts has me hung up on how I want to proceed. Any insightful thoughts or opinions are appreciated.

I used to know what to put in these, but now I'm not so sure.
