Making learning to read engaging and enjoyable is all about shifting from rigid practice to interactive, playful experiences. Here are two effective apps that parents can use to bring fun into the process: 1. Duolingo ABC - (Amazon) - Teaches alphabets, phonics, and sight words 2. Khan Academy Kids - Free - (Start with Khankids.org) - These apps have shown that they really improve learning in K-5 that break down foundational reading skills like spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension—into bite-sized, playful modules.

Let's start using apps with our children during the summer. Practicing in the lower grades will assist your children and students with appreciating and learning to love reading!

Students Learning To Read With A Microlearning Architecture

Encourage students to use the app with "learning nuggets" or small modules in grades K-6 and skills (spelling, vocabulary, comprehension).
