Thanks to @Anna Torr and @Glenn Mitchell for a great session today. Here's the recording for those that missed it. First of all, big congrats to @Anna Torr for launching her course and enrolling 7 students (that could be 9 soon) on just her pilot. We're so happy for you - this is just the beginning. In this session, we looked at: - the process of signing up the first clients to a pilot program - fulfilling a pilot program after launch - business models to consider after a pilot course - using the challenge-solution cycle to add recurring revenue to your program - changing the task and not the text when students revisit a text - internalization vs memorization - why students will pay for the result (eg: beach body) and not the process (eg: drink celery juice every morning) & how your pitch/marketing should reflect that - using agents as lead generation strategy for hard-to-reach markets As always, drop questions or reflections below. Have a great day!

I had a great time talking with Anna and Andrew about all the topics and as always learned something from the discussion. Thank you to both for letting me prattle on.
My website
Finally published my Oral Proficiency Interview by Computer website. It's free for about three more weeks so enroll and have a look if you don't mind. I'd appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks in advance. There's also a discussion board linked to it. https://glenn-s-site-422a.thinkific.com/courses/your-first-course

Thanks for the feedback, I am still working on the organization and a more coherent plan. I think that would firm up the offer.

I showed up for the wrong one ....
The Narrowing
#Narrowing Down your Niche 1.0 I decided on my niche of the English communication OPiC test used as a prerequisite for good jobs in Korea. It's good because it is a niche with a good target audience that needs to improve some of their speaking skills and confidence in their abilities. I have two semester of experience with the material and teaching it Had a great meeting with Michael about it and he helped out immensely with how to set it up and begin working on the infrastructure and am busy acting on those plans. Small positive steps I find encouraging. Hoping things continue to go well.
The Paralysis of Decision
#Knowing your Students Completed the tasks and have narrowed it down to three niches. First is an Oral Proficiency Interview by Computer (OPIC) for Korean students/job seekers. They need a good score on it to be considered for government jobs. It covers a lot of bases in that it's a niche, there will be students for it and I have familiarity with it because I taught it for two semesters. A Google search gave ample networking contacts to research and I can also contact my former colleagues who might have taken over the class. The second is Interview English and can be further broken down into Job Interview or Immigration interview. I have previous experience with both through former students I advised. The final one is a writing course for students wanting or needing to improve. I have a good idea about the students for each course, experience with all three and the teaching chops to help them with their problems. The only thing left is to choose the wrong one and go from there.

My original intention was a writing course but the more I think about it, the more I like the OPIC idea.
