This is a short video of the basics of making a crown, I made it for a bespoke watch order I had and the customer wanted his initials engraved.

Most of my life I have been searching for an artistic outlet, I tried all sorts of hobbies, making furniture, model making, DJ, photography, sketching and I just couldn’t create something that give me the feeling! You know that feeling when you have made something so good you yell, “yes I love that! so I face up to the fact that I can’t paint! But one day I stumbled across watch making which is a combination of engineering, jewellery and art, I didn’t need to be great at drawing! What have you tried so far and found you can’t do it?

I started making watches 15 years ago, as I had a burning desire to do something more creative with my life, I can’t draw, I sketch like a 4 year old! So I needed to find something that didn’t require me to have that sort of talent! I was born a car mechanic, my dad was a mechanic and my grandfather was a mechanic so there was no escaping! So I’ve worked on cars, motorcycles and boats for 30 years the one thing I did learn was how there made and I’ve always loved watches I realised they are a machine too, and the design possibilities are infinite and inspiring. I needed somewhere to start and I thought learning CAD Computer Aided Design was a good place. I purchased a copy of Bobcad and never looked back it changed my life! Now I can design and make anything, and it’s easier than you think to learn it, if you would like to have a go or have a watch design in mind get in touch.
