What's on your Invisible Load?
I’ve been speaking with so many women lately about that "always-on" feeling—the constant mental checklist that never seems to get shorter, no matter how much you actually get done. We often call it being busy, but most of the time, it’s actually the "invisible load." It’s the planning, the emotional labor, and the mental logistics that take up so much headspace before you even start your day. I put together a simple audit to help you map out exactly what you’re carrying. The goal isn't just to see the list, but to identify the specific areas where you can start setting boundaries and actually putting some of those things down. It’s free, and it’s helped a few people I’ve worked with realize they were managing three people's worth of mental work. You can grab it here if you’re ready to lighten the load! What’s one thing on your list this week that you’ve been carrying that you could realistically hand off or just stop doing entirely? Let's discuss.

Emma, remembering what needs doing is work of its own. A useful handoff would include who owns the task and when it needs attention, otherwise the person handing it over is still managing it in their head. Does your audit separate doing a job from being responsible for remembering it?

John, what sort of first project do you help a complete beginner build? I'd be interested in the step between generating an idea and putting something usable in front of a real person. I haven't tried the app yet.

@John Richard Lloyd-Hughes Thanks for explaining the steps, John. The part I was trying to understand was what happens after choosing an idea, so the roadmap and support answer that. I haven’t used it, so I can’t give you useful product feedback yet. Hope those first users give you some specific things to work with.
💭 TUESDAY THOUGHTS: More Eyes on Your Community… Then What?
Yesterday's conversation showed there's different stages of community growth. One of our members shared how Pinterest has led to a huge increase in visitors to her community's About Page. That's exciting! But here's something worth considering… When more people visit your About Page, what impression are they getting of the community they're about to join? Your About Page is often the first glimpse people get of what happens inside your community. It helps them decide whether the promise, the people and the experience are what they're looking for. Getting people to look is one thing. Helping the right people understand the value of joining is another. And then, of course, the experience inside needs to live up to the expectations you've created. 👇 Let's talk, Nexus! When you look at your own community's growth journey, which area are you focusing on most right now? 🌱 Getting more of the right people to discover you? 🌱 Helping visitors understand why they should join? 🌱 Making sure the experience inside delivers on that promise? I'd love to hear your thoughts! 😊

Lisa, I’m focused on that first experience after joining. I have a pinned Start Here post and a free starting course, and I’m checking that a new person can find the next step without guessing. The useful test for me is whether someone can point to one thing they can do today, instead of just seeing a long list of content.

Tina, “stop chasing perfection” gives people a different starting point from another strict challenge. I’m interested in how communities help someone return after they’ve gone quiet. Do you have a simple way for members to rejoin the conversation without feeling they need to explain a missed week?
Be honest: what stops you from posting?
Let’s have a real chat today. When you sit down to write a post, what’s the hardest part for you? A) Knowing what to write about B) Writing the first line C) Worrying what people will think D) Something else (tell me!) Just reply with a letter. There are no wrong answers here, and you’re definitely not the only one. I’ll read every reply, and I’ll use them to plan what I teach next. P.S. If you picked B, my free First Line Cheat Sheet was made for you

D, narrowing it down to one useful thing. With AI lessons, a topic can turn into a whole instruction manual pretty quickly. One question, one example, one thing someone can try feels like a better post. The manual can wait until somebody asks for it. 😂
