I was comfortable being uncomfortable...
Yesterday was perhaps the best day of my life. My communication teacher at collage tasked us with debating on a topic which we can choose. Of course me and my partner didn't prepare anything until the last 2 hours... I believed if I rehearse of give a scripted debate, it would be better if I had invested the time I would've spent learning somewhere else. We prepare some script until the debate starts... & I encountered an awkward state... I asked audience how many of them believe in xyz and asked them to raise their hands if they do so... None of them did... I looked at their eyes and I could see the disgust that they had - either they couldn't hear me properly or were just too tired of the last class at 17:00.. Either way, none of them did & it was awkward but surprisingly I didn't feel ashamed which is very weird (but also good), I remained calm and just thanked my teacher who scolded them that they do not have any opinion and that he agreed to what I asked. I carried out my speech and it was actual unprompted debate time and yeah it was an easy win because HE didn't prepare as such but I feel great. In my eyes, I believe I delivered the best speech because during others, I noticed almost a majority of them were on their phones or sleeping as others "debated" while reading it all off scripts, I did unprompted... I am proud that although I am not a good speaker yet and there is a lot of room for improvement, at least I am the one the people in my class cannot not listen. This gave me confidence that maybe what I really lack in sales is product clarity which results in fear of my prospects going off the script which in turn freezes me. I will begin the cold call soon (Tomorrow)

that’s a solid win bro, staying calm when things get awkward is a big skill. All the best for the cold calls tom.

Me
Hey Shreyas & everyone! I'm Gauransh Dixit, a 3rd year product design student. Alongside college, I'm building a side hustle around high-converting landing page templates, which I plan to sell through content and cold outreach. I'm here to improve my communication, articulation (even i wrote this intro by myself, but not confident that if my grammar is right, not repeating the same point, over explaining stuff, i got this checked by chatgpt, that usually happens every time I want to avoid this), enunciation, and overall personality. I sometimes fumble while speaking, struggle to put my thoughts into words, over-explain or repeat stuff, and rely too much on fillers like "uh" and "um". I also want to work on my body language and social skills. I'm comfortable being assertive and setting boundaries, but I've realised I can sometimes come across as dominating or unapproachable. I want to strike a balance between confidence, warmth, and approachability, communicate with conviction, and build better connections with people. Looking forward to learning and growing with everyone!
