Experienced mastering engineers + TRE Grads
I've seen a couple of posts here from recent TRE grads looking to build their portfolio... I'm looking to build my referral list of mastering engineers. Preferably in Canada as this is where I'm based but also open to U.S. engineers as I collaborate a lot with U.S. artists. I'm looking for mastering engineers more experienced with Hip Hop or EDM but open to those experienced in rock/metal/punk as I know a few bands. I would also like to connect with engineers that are capable of mastering for CD's, Vinyl's and Cassettes, I know streaming is the new norm, but I find bands like to include those "novelty" items as merch. Just curious. How often do y'all get into funks regarding music? And why does it happen? It seems to be rather common amongst creatives. When off track, what are some things you do to get yourself back on course?

It’s my Birthday!
I was born in 1962 on Halloween at exactly 12 midnight on a U.S. Air Force base in Greenville South Carolina. My age and the year I was born coincide with each other. I am 62 born in 62!!

For Engineers With Experience
If you were to go back to the beginning of your mixing/mastering journey, whats the biggest advice you would give yourself, and why?

@Steven Casale once you discover those "two things", don't yield those two diamonds to anyone, including parents, best friends, etc. If you do, you will regret it later. I went through that ordeal of living, the life, others (grandpa, grandma, parents, etc) wanted me to live, instead of living for myself, in service of others. That's a big difference. I discovered who I am and what I wanted between the ages of 46 and 52. Prior to that, it felt like my life was just shifting shadows speeding by. I was completely unaware of myself until I started going to therapy at age 48. My lack of self actualization was due to severe, prolonged, child abuse. I was self-sabotaging and didn't understand why.
