JUST4PARENT - How To Deal With The Haters!
Parents - Having laughed and cried with literally thousands of parents over the past 25 years, i know how difficult is can be for parents to help their goalkeeper child. Look, please do not beat yourself up - goalkeeping is such a specialist position, if you have not played in goal before, it is very very difficult to know what to do. But do not worry, this is what we are here for. So EVERY Tuesday, i am going to do a post and video, answering some of the most asked questions I have helped parents with over the years. TODAY - my video attacked, explains how to deal with the hater of this world. As your gk child starts to have success, they will 100% start to get haters. Whether this is online or even their own team mates... So my video attacked explains how to 'USE' these morons, to propel your child forward, rather than hold them back. PARENTS/KEEPERS - How do you deal with the haters - comment below.

Great advice. I think especially as most the kids nowadays have their own social media platforms or ran by parents so they can document their progress and connect with other GK’s, like what we do here at J4K. It’s a shame these online trolls exist, and thankfully as my son is only just gone 8, he doesn’t have access or see these comments (not that he’s had many yet but I know they will come over time) but it will be interesting to share ideas as he grows older how to deal with it. And let’s not forget most people who comment with hate are ones who can’t do what our keepers do anyway! 🧤

Young GK - Staying sharp without a coach?
Quick one – any advice from other parents? My son’s development team doesn’t have a GK coach, so he sometimes ends up standing around while outfield training is going on. I try to keep him working on his own drills, but it’s not always easy. Any tips to keep young keepers engaged and developing? Keeping it fun is the main thing ⚽️

This is a difficult one as it’s still super important to have the GK involved in outfield training. This helps promote better footwork, ball control and confidence with their feet. My son trains for both of his weekend teams with the group, they then do small shooting games towards the end of the session. For his GK specific training, he trains twice a week with dedicated GK Coaches meaning he gets the best of both worlds. Everyone is different and don’t have the time to do multiple sessions but with the team training I would get them involved in everything and try to find individual GK coaching to get the best of both.
First J4K Gloves
Harry trying out his new 4G gloves in training last night. I’ll be honest the grip had me worried before he’d even received them due to the design on the palm. But it was better than I could have imagined. Very durable. A good, honest training session very heavily goalkeeper related so the gloves were in action from minute one, and Harry had nothing but great feedback about them. It’s always going to be a fine balance between grip and durability and I think these gloves have nailed it.
