White House Announces New Cybersecurity Strategy 2026
On Friday, President Trump announced his new strategy for better protecting our government, organizations, and citizens within the United States. As many things, these practices will cross over to benefit other nations and people within given Trump's focus is on combating adversaries across the globe. I will summarize some key points mentions, but please take the time to review for yourself as well. - Shaping Adversary Behavior Adversaries across the globe have been picking off weaknesses within organizations globally. They attack our networks, they phish and extort employees through emails, they install ransomware... You get the idea. They are not good dudes. This administration is working to equip the ability of the people to counter those attacks legally in order to protect our global economies. πŸ† - Promote Common Sense Regulation The cybersecurity regulations in past have many times being boiled down to checking off a box on a list of things absolutely necessary. However, many times this can leave gaps within organization's networks that leave us vulnerable for zero-day exploits. By streamlining the regulations across industries and allowing them to be a bit more agile as technology advances, it will better improve the real-time protections we put in place. πŸ† - Modernize and Secure Federal Government Networks Everything within the government tends to move a bit slower than the private sector. This is a known fact. Technology tends to be archaic, requiring many months if not years of meetings and red-tape to justify the budgets just to upgrade servers and networking equipment. Unfortunately, by the time these implementations are approved and installed, the technology has already changed. This change will focus on AI-powered solutions that can monitor and track vulnerabilities in real time as they pop-up and be a lot more agile with new threats. - Secure Critical Infrastructure This has been a major focus lately. Critical infrastructure includes your power plants, water plants, nuclear facilities, etc. Many cities use old computer systems with poorly implemented security practices to keep the lights on and water flowing. This call out will improve our security posture across critical infrastructure and ensure that we are staying on top of the trends of what is necessary to protect this ICS systems.

I do agree with Trump, we do need to consider hardening security in governments and even in national security which are heavily valued upon. Threat actor are picking off defenses more than ever, so cybersecurity is no longer an option, it is a must that matters in protecting private information that is needed. Now AI is more involved in attack methods are becoming an issue in security. Especially upskilling the cyber workforce so more individuals can break into the field to do their part in protecting data assets in cyber space from threat actors. I like what he is doing for us cyber folks in my opinion. I still believe If it means being a part of a group of professionals in this field to better protect information, then I am always open serve my purpose of wherever I am needed.πŸ™
AI Security Certifications Aren't Worth It... Hear me out
In just a 25-day window (Nov 17 – Dec 11, 2025), four major companies dropped their most powerful models back to back: xAI's Grok 4.1, Google's Gemini 3, Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.5, and OpenAI's GPT-5.2. Vertu That's a new frontier model roughly every week. Certifications can take months, if not years to go through formalized vetting processes through different peer review experts before it is finally launched... Then they have to make study material such as courses and books so people can study for the exam. By the time all this is done - there have already been 2+ models launches MINIMUM! At the rate of AI development, traditional educational methods just don't work anymore. You know what will? Studying the technology itself and using various AI security frameworks such as the OWASP Gen AI and NIST AI Security Profile to test and secure the various AI projects you are working on. Actual hands on experience is with a form of documenting your projects are going to be the key to studying in this ever-evolving landscape! What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree or disagree? Tell me why below ⬇️

@Nicolas Moy I have a bunch of projects I had done in my portfolio. I may change it up to be more cloud related. I just feel like with the projects I have currently are not focused towards a cybersecurity role like cloud security specifically. I just wouldn't want employers to think I am all over the place in projects.

@Nicolas Moy that is a great idea. I have thought of something similar like use terraform or cloud formation to host it then run attacks on it on my own account of course. I like the bonus points and it would make sense because a cloud environment has data and when you tear down that cloud environment it is retrievable even deleted or tear down to scrap. Basically cloud forensics with AI emphasis which sounds like an interesting cloud project idea. πŸ˜―πŸ€”
Claude Mythos Leaked - Let's talk about it
Claude Mythos is set to be the most powerful model Anthropic has made to date, with powerful capabilities that will impact software development and cybersecurity specifically. Watch the video to learn more: https://youtu.be/VdWzElQySPo

That would be interesting to utilize in terms of software development and cybersecurity.
Are you working on AI skills?
I'm curious about the overall status of everyone in this community? With everything going AI we must begin to familiarize ourselves with the tools in order to build and secure. You may have heard the saying. "AI isn't going to take your job, but someone using AI will..." Let me know in the poll below! I want to hear your thoughts:

@Nicolas Moy yeah I plan on expanding my knowledge on cloud security and AI as well. Then work on skills for red teaming specifically for cloud base providers after once I get into a cloud security analyst role. Because I noticed a lot of applications are hosted in the cloud like mobile, web applications, IOT, electric vehicles like teslas, robotics, and even AI based systems. It's crazy where technology is going nowadays and even regardless of AI they all need security professionals.

@Nicolas Moy absolutely I already see it coming due to things like quantum computing that will eventually be integrated with the following systems I had mention within about a decade or so depend on where they go in their research. We already have AGI which I found Japan had been the first ones to create these kinds AI systems for AGI. The technology over in China is insane from delivery drones to robotic waiters. Did you know their universities in China are already developing liquid metal robots in their research which is something straight out of terminator. Japan is no stranger to robotics of course, they been doing different attractions with them for years. I do agree that there will be a massive demand and everyone and their grandma is really going to competitive for these roles. Which is why I try to think ahead on what would be more in demand than tradition cyber work would be in the next five to ten years down the road.
