Your First Sentence
Did you know that amateurs learn what to say but professionals learn what to ask. When you introduce yourself or give a presentation, do you have a really good first sentence? Sometimes that's all your listeners remember, so be sure it is an attention getter. Your first sentence is your wealth.

Take a Breath!
I was at a networking meeting and a member was going to give a presentation. She said she was very nervous about speaking. I told her to "Take a Breath", then went on to teach her a simple breathing technique. Sit up straight in your chair without your back touching the chair. Close your eyes. Focus on your breathing. Inhale thru your nose for the count of 4. Hold your breath for the count of 7. Exhale through your mouth for the count of 8. Repeat three times. This technique has been used by Dr. Andrew Weil very successfully to relax people. Try it.

This technique is useful in many situations. Meditation is more advanced but also requires more training.

I forgot to include - when inhaling, put your hands on your ribs and feel your ribs expanding including in your back to get the deepest breaths.
What is the Protocol?
Okay, so proper etiquette when meeting someone in person is late is to wait 15 minutes before bolting. What are your thoughts on online meetings? I think it should be much shorter. 🛌They don't have traffic to worry about - they can roll out of bed, throw on a shirt and comb their hair. They don't even have to get out of the pajama bottoms. I call for the protocol on lateness to online meetings be 5 minutes! 🕐 What do you think?

I have made it a habit to always be early for meetings - in person or online. It is a matter of courtesy and respect. So, 5 minutes is a long time for me to wait.
