A couple of months ago I posted some work I did on integrating a couple of the improv workshop lessons into a practical application over a Bb Blues progression. Feedback from @Coach Gabriel Sebrian was to turn it into a fixed etude and work on stabilizing it. This is the result of that effort. There is a little more stabilization work at 120bpm, but this was a good take. I can slow it down and be more stable, but I also wanted to push my fingers and brain a bit on the speed front. The etude incorporates targeting thirds (and some fifths) using the standard bullseye method, chromatic enclosures and all three of the linear connectors covered in the first lesson on that topic. Next step would be to try and play one of the canned lines as a "call" following it with an improvised response and vice versa. This would be similar in spirit to the excellent work @Chad Bird showed us on his last neighbor tones exercise post. As always feedback is always greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, Last week's workshop applied Bert Ligon's linear harmony outlines to minor 2-5-1 progressions. Same guide tone connections you already know from the major series, adapted to the harmonic minor of the destination key. We also walked through where these outlines actually show up in real tunes: Stella by Starlight, Summertime, and a Bb blues turnaround. Very busy these days with the second part of Shiny Stockings (I like this tune more and more each time) in the Galbraith exercise that @Mentor Bob Kinney is supervising us. Finished but not perfect, with some doubts in the final part. I have chosen to play it with the iReal Pro, following what Dr. @Casey Childers has also done. Many hours invested, but they are really worth it. I will continue with the last parts. I am also doing the melody and seeing what solos can be done. It is very interesting to start from the comping that Galbraith proposes to construct scales and arpeggios..

All I was really trying to do was learn to resolve to targets, mostly always thirds here, and in any way I could get there. Tasteful it's not, but I think I met my goal.
