Introducing myself
Hi everyone! I’m Amy. I’m so happy to join this community! I’ll be heading to KCL for ESG Management this year. Currently, I work in finance, but I love hiking and Korean webtoons. I’ve been a bit lazy lately, and I really need to get a 6.0 on IELTS by April! Please feel free to push me if you see me slacking off. Excited to meet you all!

Self-introduction
Hello everyone! I’m Adley. I’m currently a university student majoring in Applied English with a minor in Financial Management. Last year, I had the opportunity to study abroad as an exchange student in Innsbruck, Austria, which is a beautiful city surrounded by mountains. This experience inspired me to pursue further studies in Europe. My current goal is to achieve an overall IELTS band score of 7 and apply for graduate school in Vienna. I’m really happy to be here with all of you to prepare for the IELTS together. I believe we can motivate each other and reach our goals! ٩(˃̶͈̀௰˂̶͈́)و (here are some pics about Innsbruck ❤️‍🔥

How to write the high score essay?
I attend tutoring sessions about three times a week. Recently, I have been asking my tutor how to write a high-scoring IELTS essay. I questioned the relevance of certain arguments because I wasn't satisfied with the model answers I found. My tutor gave me an example: if the topic is Global Warming and the prompt asks “What can people do to address this issue?”and I argue that 'Schools should offer courses on environmental friendly , the tutor says this won't get a high score because the subject is wrong. Does anyone agree with this commend?

I agree with your tutor. The question asks, “What can people do to address global warming?”, so the emphasis is on actions that individuals can take like planting more trees, using public transportations and so on. However, your idea that “Schools should offer courses on environmentally friendly practices.” focuses on education or institutional policies rather than what individuals themselves can do. Because of this, the point does not directly match the question and is therefore less relevant to the task.

Anyway, in order for you to find the subject of an essay prompt, you need to look for WHO or WHAT the question is asking about.

The supplied information compares the average weekly number of patients visiting four clinics at a hospital between 2010 and 2016. Overall, patient numbers increased in most clinics, except for the birth control clinic. Consultations for eye problems overtook those for birth control, becoming the most frequent, while diabetes and dental visits remained the least common. In detail, birth control visits started higher at roughly 250 in 2010, compared with 125 for eye consultations. Although birth control visits rose to 275 in 2012, they then fell sharply to 175 in 2014, whereas eye consultations increased slightly in the first two years before surging to 350 in 2016. By the end of the period, eye consultations had clearly surpassed birth control, highlighting a contrasting trend between the two categories. Diabetes appointments began at 60 and rose steadily to 175 by 2016. Dental visits, which started higher at 100, fell sharply to 50 in 2012. Although dental visits recovered moderately to 125, diabetes appointments maintained a stronger upward trend, eventually surpassing dental visits. 170 words ✅ Trend / Change Word List ➡ increased ➡ rose steadily ➡ surging ➡ dropped sharply ➡ fell sharply ➡ recovered moderately ➡ maintained a stronger upward trend ➡ eventually surpassing ✅ Comparison / Contrast Word List ➡ overtook ➡ becoming the most frequent ➡ remained the least common ➡ compared with ➡ whereas ➡ while ➡ demonstrating contrasting trends ✅ Linking / Cohesion Phrases ➡ overall ➡ in detail ➡ although / while / whereas ➡ by comparison ➡ compared with ✅ Describing Data / Numbers ➡ were higher at around… ➡ initially / began at / started higher at ➡ during the first two years ➡ slightly ➡ moderately ➡ clearly surpassed ✅ Medical / Context Word List ➡ appointments ➡ consultations ➡ eye-related visits Now, it is your turn to write a report for this task using these vocabulary items. ✍📃✨
