Wheels turning.
Hi, I got something I can't really understand or find it : Some instructors teach, that we should step on the brakes after T/O to stop the wheels turning. Is that for any real use ?
What’s your favorite?
If you could fly any aircraft in the world, which one would you choose? 😊

Very unique and worth a flight for sure.
How should pilots be trained?
Hi, I hope you’re all doing well. Now that things have calmed down again, I’d like to continue being here for you and help with your careers, questions, or just have some good conversations. Here in Norway, one of the major flight schools is facing bankruptcy, and it made me think about something: Flight schools often rely on students who can afford the high tuition fees. If you have the money, you can become a pilot, whether you’re truly suited for the role or not. On the other hand, Norway offers an ab-initio pilot training program funded by the government. You have to pass some tests, and if you do, the entire ATPL training is covered, with no bonding or commitments afterward. Both approaches have their pros and cons, but I’m curious what you think: Should more countries offer pilot training through universities, like other higher-education programs, or should it remain the responsibility of commercial flight schools?

Interesting, as this seems to be unique for norway. At least, the courses for helicopters are much more expensive and fully booked here, even with a waiting list. But: nothing to do with skills or talent, pure money rules. We have an Assessment process within one academy, but I have my doubts.

Comes back to the financial pressure I'm afraid. Here, a lot of instructors for CPL etc got FI to gain hoirs and have very little experience. On top, their salary is really bad, so they accept everything. Same goes for companys and students if they have to add some more training to get a good result.
What makes a great flight instructor?
What do you think are the most important attributes of a flight instructor?

I think, motivation why you want to be an instructor is key. Just to add flight hours or it‘s nice to have results in poor outcome. My motivation is always not to be like my first instructor. 😛

@Adrian Zierenberg I struggled with some exercises, navigation for example. Instead of supporting, he used to say : "I can see all your navigation points right after T/O, it’s so easy".
Thank you!
Hi guys, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for being a part of this community. So far, we’ve established some great conversations, created specific teaching content, and grown from 0 to 13 members in just a few weeks. Over the last few days, the personal time I’ve been able to invest here has dropped quite a bit, mainly due to a lot of other things happening at this time of year. That said, my goal is to keep this going. The most important thing this community needs in order to thrive is growth. The more members we have, the more naturally conversations will flow. This group already contains a huge amount of competence, from experienced pilots to instructors and drone operators, and I’m sure there are many more people out there who could benefit from getting access to this knowledge. For that reason, my main focus right now is growth, while still keeping conversations going and continuing to release new lessons. Thank you so much for being here, and I truly hope we can build something special with this project.
