Wishing Fred a great weekend
@Fred Tyre has a BIG weekend this weekend. He’s having his first festival displaying his art. He’s been working his ass off to get ready for this. I’m sending you great vibes Fred for a successful weekend. I’ll be rooting you on and excited to hear how it went.

Uh. Wow. A little teary eyed over here. Thank you so much for this.
What is your unusual Talent.
And do you have a community about it? This post is inspired by side conversations with members. My goal is building community. I LOVE getting to know each other. So today, tell me in the comments, what is your Unique Talent. Maybe you know all of this crazy stuff about every animal on the planet like @LM Sharron Or you know how to eat like a rabbit and reduce pain like @Amanda Mirrlees. Or maybe you just have a knack for creating and drawing in an insanely peaceful space like @Kate Bullock . Today, tell me your Unique talent or passion and tell us about it AND, put your link to your community in the post. Maybe we can share and support each other.

@Michelle Cyr It's been a few days since you mentioned this, but I just remembered something. It might be a fun rabbit hole for you to go down... I think it was Animation Sketchpad (for the desktop) that I used to make a bouncing ball. There might be phone software (assuming you have a smartphone) that would be free. Anyway, there is software out there that is as easy as drawing on blank index cards and making them whoosh by quickly to simulate animation ... only you get the benefit of copy-paste, etc. I did a bouncing ball, but it's been long enough since I did it that I don't remember all of the details. It's the simplest thing (a circle drawn on a few slides), and yet when you see something like your art come to life, it's kind of amazing.

@Michelle Cyr Yes, but I have to do it in my head or I get into trouble.

@Kate Bullock I am just pretending like I know what is going on and laughing like I know what is going on ...
🟢 🌕 🔴 SO PRETTY!
What Do The Colored Dots Mean? As the painting library grows, you’ll start seeing these symbols on the paint-alongs: They aren't no trespassing signs if you're a beginner. They are guidelines for the best success. And you will notice that NOT ONE says, ability to draw with accuracy. They are simply a rough guide to the complexity of the painting. This more translates to TIME you need to devote to it, not ability. 🟢 GREEN The easiest paintings in the library. You need the raw gumption to try. That’s it. No confidence required, I'll bring enough for both of us. No experience required, I'll show you step by step. 🌕 YELLOW Intermediate. You need 3 molecules of confidence (I'll bring the rest). Some brush control Willingness to trust the process These paintings usually have a few more moving parts, but are still very achievable for beginners. 🔴 RED The more complex paintings in the library. You need 30 molecules of confidence A little Brush control The ability to see smaller color and value changes (I will talk thru all this during the demo). A willingness to spend more than one or two sessions on a painting The important part: 🟢 does NOT mean “less beautiful.” 🔴 does NOT mean “better artist.” And every single one of us starts somewhere. Choose the image that excites you. I’ll help with the rest. You got this!

Also, a friendly reminder for others and myself... Growth happens from going outside your comfort zone. Doing that means it might not land as well as it usually does. In the end, celebrate the wins. Although schools taught us to fear mistakes, (at least it did for me) mistakes actually mean growth. Find the positive in the art you create and realize it's actually more valuable than just breaking even. Hope that made sense. Still waking up.

I love the creative process as a fiction writer and visual artist, but my day job is spent solving complex computer problems by creating software.
