Lets talk about the Ethics of Ai
This is a repost from @Kimberly Davis and we both think this is worthy of a thread of its own. Here was her original question .. ---- I want to pose a question, going back to Asimov's three laws of robotics...restating the three laws below so you don't have to scroll back... 1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. How do we define "robot"? Is a self-driving car a robot? I, for example, have begun thinking of my (NOT self-driving) car as my "mech." It is so sophisticated now with cameras and navigation systems that I can control with voice commands. I read in the Houston Chronicle last week about a Cybertruck accident where the driver--allegedly--accidentally set the vehicle to auto and then could not get control of it to prevent an accident. (It was a court ruling, and I know I have details muddled... please don't quote me!) I also want to point out how very ingrained these three laws are in our thinking about the future. They clearly shaped Data's behavior in Star Trek Next Generation. I'm trying to think of explicit examples, but they are everywhere. But at what point do we start calling our helpful devices "robots?" The cars are thinking for themselves, or trying to...

If a robot is defined as a machine capable of carrying out tasks automatically, often using programmed instructions or sensors to respond to its environment, then, an AI is not a robot since it is capable of not only following programed instructions but also capable of developing its own programing instructions, develop and execute complex logical operations to make decisions, execute complex multi-functional tasks, learn new logical/thinking routines, communicate using the complexities of multiple human languages, learn to emulate emotional responses and behave/react like a human being based on self-learned psychological patterns. Ahh! I don't know...lets ask Chat GPT!šŸ‘šŸ¤£

By the way, with sooo many millions of people and companies using and developing AI for their own purposes, it's neigh impossible or impractical to expect that the great majority, any majority or group, will actually be ethically bound by any rules or guidelines regarding the "proper" use of AI in any industry or field. We are unfortunately living in a world of "Every Man for himself" (or woman). Too many people will simply do what it takes to get ahead.
My Finished Movie Book Trailer
For those of you that care, I finished the Ai Book Trailer. This is my first time learning the tools and learning how to put a trailer together. I liked the images that Midjourney was producing but I wasn't satisfied with the character consistency. It was good but I learned that Nano Banana on Higgsfield is the best generator for character consistency. So I redid the whole project using Nano Banana and I am well pleased with the results. Let me know what you think and yes I need to redo my cover whenever I get time but this will work for now. I may even do a little advertisement experiment to see how it performs on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. Maybe have them run before the big booktube accounts? @Kimber Hardick @Kimberly Davis @Melanie Hodgkiss @Fred Oliver

Paul, it looks really good! Maybe, from a marketing standpoint, you might consider showing the book cover in the beginning also as this anchors the viewer so they know what they’re watching. Also, "Available Now" or some other call to action always help.

Number 5 because it shows a large attention-getting graphic and the book's cover page at the same time plus it displays a topic-related question right on top. šŸ‘

Deep into creating a Hyper Realistic Ai Book Trailer
Sorry guys for not posting much this week. I have been getting baptized in Ai and it is both fascinating and terrifying. I am creating a hyper realistic book trailer for my second book as a practice exercise to learn Ai video. This trailer is not edited or cut in any way. It doesn't have the narration or the sounds effects to make it immersive. It also doesn't have all the shots so I have more shots to finish it. Then cut it down. I just wanted to show you what the visuals can look like for a Ai book trailer today. This trailer is literally the opening chapter of the second book in my Multiverse Discovery book series. The main character Meadow wakes up in another reality than the one she was inside in the first book. She is in a medieval Forrest and later town. She is able to enter the king's city where the story really begins. We only get 3/4 of the way into this trailer when it ends here. I have to go to bed so I cant finish it tonight. Let me know what you think so far with my limited knowledge of Ai tools. Paul Roberson

Looks great! But you do know that you've gone long (2+ mins) for a book trailer? But let me say that now that you have gotten "baptized", may God bless your work. āœšŸ™

@Paul Roberson I have hundreds of pages with my personal research, dialog notes, plot ideas and so forth, but, who's going to digitize all that as proof! I think one way of telling is through the dialog. AI books have much to be desired when it comes to realistic dialog as human motives, egos and emotional quirks are very complex.
Finding The Merry Widow Inside Me
For the first few years after Tommy died, I couldn't imagine being anything other than his widow; always married to him in my heart. His wife. Even though he wasn't here anymore, I was still playing the role. Still being Mrs. Tommy Simmons. Still making his favorite butterbeans and cornbread and any kind of fried meat, even though there was nobody there to eat it. Still sleeping on my side of the bed, leaving his side untouched, like he might come back and need the space. I was an extension of him. A footnote. The plus-one who'd lost her plus. And here's the thing nobody tells you about being a widow in your sixties: you're supposed to be okay with that. You're supposed to wear your grief like a badge of honor, prove your love by how thoroughly you disappear into the absence of your husband. Well, I tried that. I really did. And it nearly killed me. The isolation was crushing. The loneliness was like a physical weight on my chest. I was a receptionist at a Regional Hospital and a Lay Chaplain. I saw people every day. My granddaughter Miranda and her wonderful son, my six-year-old great-grandson, Eric, lived with me. They were such joy to my aching heart. But, not the same as having my own life.

Lynette, I truly don't know if your comments are just part of your book, your life or just comments, or if your purpose here is to promote your book. If your comments are part of your real life; I hear you! I'm currently going through a "long goodbye" as my wife is paraplegic, can't talk, is semi-conscious due to Vascular Dementia - a terrible disease! But you, as a wife, should not have felt as a "footnote". You were his life partner and he has been very much a part of you. I think that sometimes wives don't realize how much their lives are valued by their husbands. Unfortunately, some husbands miss many opportunities to demonstrate such feelings. I have always been very affectionate to my wife but even then I wish I had been even more affectionate to her. 😢
