Hey Michael, thanks for the message. Well, some forms of hypes are genuine and useful to pave the way to more mature states of the same tech. Unfortunately I don't see that happening for this type of AI. This hype is just toxic and perpetrated by people and marketeers who barely know what AI truly is (e.g. Sam Altman), just for the sake of profit. The fact that majority of people think AI and chatGPT are two interchangeble terms, says it a lot about the state of the hype I mention here and the perception about the technology. And no, that is not democratization at all. Democratizing a technology has nothing to do with dumbing it down to something that has to be sold for 20 bucks per month (and still capable of losing money).
