Checking In....It's been a while!
Dudes! Clearly, I have stepped back from Skool in the quest to press into my first year of seminary. Who would've thought going back to school, running a business, and being an involved husband and father could be so time consuming! šŸ˜ Things are going well over here, though, and I wanted to reach out to you guys and see if I can serve you in any way. Comment with prayer requests, questions, updates, or anything else you can think of because I want to hear from you, sincerely. I hope all is well and I hope to see your message pop up shortly! Ryan

A friend I grew up with since pre-school, Michael, had lived his life with cystic fibrosis and all the complications that come with that. A few years ago he was able to get a double lung transplant. For the past few months his health had been declining and his lungs were failing. After continued complications, he passed away last night. Prayers are appreciated for the repose of his soul and the consolation of his family. He was 36.
Prayer Requests
Let's see them, fellas! We need to come together and pray for each other. No man is an island, and we are here to support each other in life's struggles, triumphs, challenges, etc. This community has been quiet, and that it on me by not pushing to get our guys back in here. I challenge you to step in and help me grow this space as a refuge and support for guys looking to become better in all aspects of life. My prayer request: I have an opportunity to lead a small home church. That would require stepping away from our large church in town and following the template that Jesus set in the Gospels: start with a small group, raise up leaders, and multiply. There would be no income from this, so it's a tough decision. I would have to really ramp up coaching and drop the notion of seeking a paid opportunity within the church that I have applied for. My family is blessed with finances that, if we stewarded well, we could live off of, but it would be a heavy adjustment. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated. Now comment your requests below and let's get after it!

My prayer request: within the context of ministry, the Lord is inviting me to deeper and beautiful encounters. I am experiencing personal resistance in knowing that this requires more time and energy (physical, emotional, spiritual). I pray for the grace to receive what the Lord is desiring me to receive in spite of my resistance. And that I maintain the disposition of service to those God is placing before me.
Answered Prayers
I wanted to capture some answered prayers I've had lately. Specifically the past few years, a continued prayer of "Lord, help me land in a career that provides for my family, fulfills my heart, and glorifies you." I can see that coming to fruition, not only in my coaching business, but also in the local church where I have an opportunity to serve as a Discipleship Director. I ask for prayers for that position, as I want to get into vocational ministry while still coaching. Another prayer has been connection and intimacy with my wife. Not just physical intimacy, but true connection and not just passing each other throughout the day and sitting at night on our phones, or doing our own thing. I've seen the Lord do amazing things through both of us, including a shifting of, honestly, lusting after my wife to truly cherishing her for the woman she is and finding attraction in more than just her body. Our connection has grown tremendously, and we've had incredible conversations that only God could make possible. I encourage you guys to choose something to pray for unrelentingly. Be stubborn in your asking. Keep knocking. The Lord wants you to press in, to seek after him, to truly need him to move. Comment your prayer requests and let's lift each other up!

I am currently finding peace in surrender. I can find myself in a tendency to want to be in control of everything. When things are going as I anticipate, I would jump in to try ad fix/organize it to my own detriment. I am finding that intentionally trusting the Lord's presence and His working through others has given me freedom in not feeling as though I need to be a part of every single detail.
Day 23
Today was the first day that I noticed that I have completely forgot about Instagram for the past few days. Like forgot it existed. Which, having my business on the platform and forgetting entirely about it is probably not great for new clients. But I don't care. They say 3 weeks is where a habit solidifies itself, and that rings true for this situation, as well. Habit broken. Now what? How do we go back into that space with what we've learned? What boundaries are you going to create for yourself? What have you been focusing on with the extra time and mental capacity that you now have?

I think further discussion around this would be helpful.

@Ryan Meador Thank you for the perspective and resource. I am also feeling less drawn to Instagram after our challenge. The major difference for me is that I do not use it for marketing.
Day 27
It's been several days since updating on the December Challenge from me. I apologize, but I have had a lovely time not even thinking about work, or technology. It hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows, as we're living in the post-Christmas chaos of cleaning out and organizing new things. But the boys are happy, and the gifts they've received have all been a blessing; leaving the tv off and knees and hands dirty as they shuffle around the floor, ride dirt bikes and scooters outside, and build all the Legos. Christmas is meant to be taken in with an open heart and a focused mind. We had a great Christmas. I hope you did, as well. I've redownloaded Instagram on my phone in the meantime, and when I have opened it, I almost despise it. I mentioned I would check it periodically throughout the month for messages or notifications that were important to my business, but with this challenge, I've developed a negative view of the app. Honestly, it's clouded my creativity with moving forward on how I want to market to my audience and potential clients. I've been thinking a lot lately with how I want to help people; what's most important to me. Faith, Health, and a Deeper Experience in this one life come to mind initially. Breaking those things down and making tangible steps out them are the easy part. Marketing this idea to the masses is the most difficult for me. Maybe y'all can help with this? Some of you are current clients, or have been previously: what is it that captured your interest? What were you looking for? From my perspective, each client has been looking for something different, but everyone either stays on, loving the support and encouragement, or we end with their goals met completely and they are able to move forward without support. I'm rambling here, but I just don't want to be another talking head spewing advertising language about how "busy dads can lose 30lbs+ in 3 months with my Super Dad Shred Program". Literally makes me gag. Can't stand it.

What has kept me connected is that you are a Christian Man who is aware that you are a work in progress and helping others find their way as well. I believe, humility and authenticity keep things "not cringy" .
