Help me build our new icon!
I'm working on a new vibe for the icon. Something simple, modern, and attention-grabbing. Something members of the Founder's Guild can recognize and feel proud of. Something memorable. Here are some concept ideas I've come up with so far. What do we think? Do any of these feel like they hit the mark?

@Bill Widmer Dunno about the representativity but my queer neurodivergent communities also tend to be very nerdy :D definitely not the regular corporate crowd

@Bill Widmer I figured :D Would be curious to know what your prompts were. The first one does feel so much more personal.
Those of you who menstruate: Do you plan your tasks in synch with your cycle?
We’ve been aware for a while now that ADHD in women is associated with higher sensitivities to hormonal changes which can result in PMDD, worsened ADHD symptoms or reduced efficiency of ADHD medication (for a while meaning – since 2017 I believe?? Correct me if I’m wrong). Just generally though our bodies and brains change throughout the menstrual cycle, and I think many of us will notice those changes over the month. What I’m curious about – do you keep track of your cycle and have this in mind as you schedule meetings, tasks or deadlines? Personally I’m much more outgoing and communicative during my follicular phase, so I’ll plan important meetings, outreach or releases during this phase wherever possible. When I’m luteal or menstruate I tend to withdraw from the world. This is a tricky window as mood regulators drop and I’ll be sooo much more sensitive to negative intrusive thoughts. But I’ve found this window is actually really fitting for deep-diving into learning new things, tucked in comfortably on my sofa. What’s funny is that I started doing this subconsciously. I’ve been focusing on exploring my flow states over the last years, listening to my body and leveraging my impulses. By now I’m aware of what’s going on and how I can use it to my benefit. It’s not foolproof, and externalities can easily get in the way. But I do feel much more confident and aligned in my work and can be gentle to myself when something doesn’t work out. Do any of you relate? Can you identify tasks that work just well in one cycle phase but feel impossible a week later? Would love to hear your thoughts 💛

@Katherine Lizardo Incredible! And no I hadn't seen this. Will definitely check it out, that's just up my alley :)
Launching my art business
Hi I’m Fini, I draw dancers (among other things) 🙃 Throughout my 20s I've been through a number of careers, as account manager, language specialist, copywriter, and lately in the NGO field focusing on corporate accountability. After roughly 10 years of adulthood and a fair amount of burnout, I’ve decided it was time to do something for myself. I’ve been drawing at dance events for several years now, making portraits of the dancers in the moment – which oh so happens to please my novelty-driven brain, and also sell quite well. It turns out not many people work as quickly as I do so I’m exploring this niche. Now I’m taking this year off to launch my art business properly and see how far I can take it. Doing what I love most at events is great but won’t scale, so I’m looking into options to generate income streams centred on my art without being reduced to it. These days I’m preparing an open call based on references provided by my queer community; prepping a month-long exhibition in my beloved university town; booking in more events; and when I’m not fuelled by deadline-stress, setting up my website and online print shop and ramping up my social media presence. Excited to be here and looking forward to exchange with y’all! Oh also I’m based in Berlin, Germany, so if there are any other Europeans around let me know :)

ADHD Hack: Sensory Anchoring
Did you know that you can create flow states with sensory anchoring? Sensory anchoring means using a specific smell, texture, or sound to train your brain into different modes. For example, I create sensory anchors for getting into "focus mode" when I need to work by keeping a cedar block on my desk. When I'm ready to work, I smell the cedar block, turn on some medieval lo-fi music, set a pomodoro timer, and get to it. Now my brain associates medieval lo-fi and the smell of cedar with "It's time to lock in and get work done!" Have you tried sensory anchoring before?

Not sure this qualifies as sensory anchor - but the effect did surprise me. I had to readjust my sleep schedule (took on a 9-5 thing and need ~9h of sleep on average) - no easy feat because my circadian rhythm tends to be on the late side at the best of times. Didn't plan for this one, but I'd taken the habit of letting a candle burn throughout the day. Blowing out the candle would now be the last thing I'd do before going to bed. For the first couple nights I paired it with a cup of melatonin tea that I'd have in bed just before sleeping, so some extra pavloving going on here. But the minute I took to watch the candle flame just before blowing it out - no other lights, no headphones, just quietness and the candle flame - really helped to bring me down. There are many effects coming together and the anchor definitely isn't sensory only (though I guess you could easily tweak it by adding scents). But it worked wonders. After a while as soon as my head met the mattress I would feel that natural peaceful melatonin rush of tiredness, instead of the thought carousel I was used to. Going to bed really became a purposeful change of mental state, instead of just changing position. P.S., external factors changed and I stopped following this routine. The effect's lost, but I do want to start it again. Thanks for reminding me about it @Bill Widmer :)
