Hello. I'm Filipe Estácio from Florianópolis/Brazil
I started paddling in the end of 2020. I'm a personal trainer and during the pandemic I was looking for some way to create an environment to celebrate the year with my clients (I was thinking about a bbq, but we couldn't be indoors with a lot of people) and I saw a club that was doing this type of activities with groups. After that experience I started paddling once a week, than twice a week, and after couple of months I was paddling three times a week... After a year I bought my own OC2 and OC1. The OC1 was great for me because my schedule is very different every day and I could enjoy paddling in different times and places. Now I'm currently learning and developing my skills with the V1 as well. I usually paddle 6x/week and I'm training hard for competition in my state next month and with a downwind competition in Northeast of Brazil in August (you guys should check out https://www.instagram.com/molokabra/ - best place in Brazil for downwind). I found Tek Li on Instagram. I'm currently a Phd student and my thesis involves determinants of perfomance in outrigger canoe. I'm excited with this topic and very soon I will be able to share my findings with you guys. My team is https://www.instagram.com/prgvaasup and we paddle at Lagoa da Conceição/ Barra da Lagoa in Florianópolis, great place to paddle in a estuarine lagoon, channel or open ocean. I'm looking for understand more about this sport, I'm very interested about performance and understanding how the body works with different stimuli and how to get better in paddling.
