🏈 No Supplemental Draft in 2026
The NFL has decided not to hold a supplemental draft this year, which means Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby will not be eligible to enter the NFL in 2026 through that process. For those unfamiliar, the supplemental draft is a special draft that has occasionally allowed players with unusual eligibility situations to enter the league outside of the normal NFL Draft. However, the NFL has not held one in several years and chose not to bring it back this year. Sorsby's situation stems from NCAA eligibility issues related to sports betting during his time as a student-athlete. After legal efforts and appeals, he ultimately sought entry through the supplemental draft, but the league declined to hold one. It's an interesting story because it touches on several major issues: 🏈 Player eligibility 🎰 Gambling and sports integrity ⚖️ NCAA and NFL rules 📋 The future of the supplemental draft itself Personally, I'm not surprised by the NFL's decision. The league has invested heavily in protecting the integrity of the game, especially as sports betting becomes more common and accessible. What do you think? Should the NFL have held a supplemental draft for Sorsby, or was the league right to stick with its current policy? DBR See the full article HERE

🏈 Why Football Reminds Me of Business
I've always enjoyed football, and I think one reason is that success requires so much execution. A great game isn't won by one spectacular play. It's won because dozens of people consistently do their jobs—blocking, running routes, reading defenses, communicating, adjusting, and executing under pressure. The more I think about it, the more it reminds me of business. Running a business isn't about one big sale or one viral social media post. It's about showing up every day, serving your clients well, following up with leads, managing your finances, improving your systems, and making hundreds of small decisions that add up over time. Football also reminds me that neither business nor life is perfect. There are big wins. There are costly mistakes. There are moments when everything seems to click... ...and moments when you wonder what just happened. But the best football teams—and the best businesses—have something in common. They know how to endure. They don't let one bad play define the game. They learn, adjust, and line up for the next play. Maybe that's why football has always resonated with me. It reminds me of my time as a conductor, too. Everyone has a role to play, and when everyone executes together with discipline and purpose, the result is something much greater than any one individual could accomplish alone. That's how great teams are built. And that's how great businesses are built. DBR P.S. If you didn't know, I own DBR Bookkeeping, which has proudly been a sponsor of this community. Supporting local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community events is something I genuinely enjoy. As we begin thinking about next season, I'm looking forward to finding more ways for local businesses to get involved and continue investing in this amazing community.

Football is definitely a business. Management can be good and the team thrives, bad and it's a mess. Let's go!
