Start Here: What You’re Building (and Where You Are)
If you have a finished manuscript...or if you're at least halfway...you're in the right place. Inside this Guild, we focus on the full publishing process: - Creation (writing) - Development (editing) - Production (turning the manuscript into an interior and exterior) - Distribution (where it’s available) - Promotion (how it gets into readers' hands) That’s what we’re here to work through—practically. Please introduce yourself! Share: 1. What you’re currently working on 2. Where you are in the process: writing, editing, production, publishing, marketing 3. What you feel you need the most help with right now

My experience.
I ran an experiment to find out what kind of writer AI was. I asked it to write a 'Martha' chapter that would flesh her out. It read my entire novel and wrote an amazing chapter which characterized her perfectly according to what I'd already written about her. AI did this in less than a couple of minutes!!! Then I asked it to write a background Rubin chapter. Same thing. It wrote a very good story about how he had been left at the door of an orphanage because his mother could not abide his deformity. Then I asked it to write a Rubin poem about how his deformity affected his life. It was a very good effort on AI part. I have never used AI to write any portion of my novels. I refuse to do that. But here is the thing. I conducted my own research concerning how easy it is for experts to distinguish AI writing from human writing, and in many instances, the experts got it wrong. They were not able to detect which was 'human' and which was AI. Bottom line: I am abandoning my efforts at writing for the time being. I feel AI is going to take over writing.

I like that perspective. A story with a meaningful message and compelling characters can stay with readers long after they finish the last page. I'm looking forward to seeing how your novel comes together. When do you hope to have it ready for readers?

@Harry Governick, Oh, yes that true
Hi everyone, I’m Evie James 👋
I’m a contemporary romance author writing dark, high-stakes love stories with morally gray alpha heroes, strong heroines, and guaranteed HEAs. My books blend fast-paced drama, intense emotion, and a touch of danger often in mafia, medical, and romantic suspense settings. I live in Nashville with my family and four dogs, and a lot of inspiration for my stories comes from my real-life world of aviation and high-pressure, fast-moving lifestyles. Excited to be here and connect with other writers and readers what do you love most about romance stories?

@Blaze Martel, Hi, great to meet you and congrats on your upcoming release that’s a huge milestone. Writing bold romance definitely comes with a lot of different reader expectations, and I think a big part of it is being very clear about tone, themes, and content upfront so readers know exactly what they’re stepping into. Beyond that, staying consistent with your author voice and the kind of stories you want to tell really matters. It sounds like you have a very defined vision for your work, which is important in this genre. Wishing you the best with your launch this summer what part of your publishing process are you focusing on right now?

@Lara Helmling, Thank you so much that’s such a thoughtful way to put it. I completely agree, that balance of emotional intensity and the promise of resolution is what makes romance so powerful for readers. It’s that “through the fire but still toward love” journey that really drives the story for me as well. And yes, aviation has been such a constant backdrop in my life that it naturally finds its way into my storytelling especially the pressure, urgency, and high-stakes moments that come with it. Really excited to be part of this community and learn from everyone here.
