Ever wonder why most gardens don’t actually lower their grocery bill? It’s because we usually plant "snacks" instead of "staples." To truly replace the store, you need a strategy so I put this together for #TeamGrocery. Introducing The Garden Pyramid: πŸ₯” Level 1: The Foundation (Potatoes, Beans, Winter Squash). These are your calories. They store for months and keep you full all winter. πŸ… Level 2: The Workhorses (Tomatoes, Peppers, Carrots). The bulk of your fresh eating and canning. πŸ₯¬ Level 3: The Fresh Grab (Lettuce, Kale, Radishes). High-nutrient greens for daily salads. 🌿 Level 4: The Flavor (Basil, Cilantro, Dill). High-value herbs that save you $5 a pop at the store. πŸ“ Level 5: The Joy (Berries & Experiments). The "dessert" and the fun trials of the season. The chart below shows what and how you should be growing to become self sufficient. If you all would like to talk more about this, just let me know.

Anyone experience with sweet potatoe?

@Deborah Wyatt I'm soon starting my very first veggie bed (raised). When I look at the piramid, I'd like to add some sweet potatoes. Is there anything I should keep in mind? Like distance between plants, surrounding plants to avoid or to encourage.
Update
A little up date on the front garden bed.

Spring!
Here in the northern hemisphere it is getting warm and the Spring Equinox is just around the corner. What are your plans for this month?
