USA Athletes Shine at Canadian National Open Championships Evans and Gonzalez Earns Top Overall Scores of the Competition
Calgary, AB — July 2025 Team USA athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Canadian National Open Championships, securing podium finishes across nearly every age division. Facing a strong Canadian field and a growing national program, the event provided a valuable opportunity for all athletes to compete against a deeper, more competitive international field. From seasoned seniors to emerging youth stars, USA Pentathlon Multisport proved it is building strength at every level of development. Leading the charge was Senior Men’s champion Tyler Evans, recording the highest overall point total with a dominant 1512 points. His performance highlighted a strong showing for the U.S. senior men, who secured six spots in the top ten. In the Senior Women’s division, Madison Estela Gonzalez took first place with a solid score of 1330 points, while Phaelen French added to the medal tally by earning bronze with 1253 points. Teammates Kseniya Voronina (4th) and Cassandra Steptoe (6th) also posted strong finishes, showcasing the depth of American women in the international field. On the youth side, the future of Team USA continues to shine: · Wally Siggins captured gold in the U15 Boys division with 1277 points. · Steven Wimmer brought home silver in the U17 Boys with 1166 points. · Neallie Gillis-Pade earned bronze in the U17 Girls with 1035 points. · Srjani Iyer earned silver in the U13 Girls with 1093 points. · Nidhi Thanikkappilly also took silver in the U15 Girls, finishing with 878 points. · In the U11 category, Longstreet Neely took 3rd place. Masters athlete Danielle Martin also stood atop the podium in the Master Women 30+ division, winning with 696 points.
