Another Day, Another Win!
I am beyond ecstatic! Thank you for posting this, Pride365 Pride isn't just one day in June - it's an every day celebration of our LGBT+ community. Pride365 Champions live proudly every day to highlight challenges and share successful progress. art smith is no exception. A Pride365 Champion since 2019, Art founded the GayBarchives project out of his passion for the contributions that bars and safe spaces have made to the LGBT+ vibrant and diverse community. Art's GayBarchives group on Facebook now boasts over 30,000 members from around the world who celebrate the places that have helped build this community. Google has recognised Art’s work for its impact on preserving gay bar history and sharing stories that would have been lost to time, highlighting an ongoing effort to embrace this heritage and celebrate it's presence. Art's project started with a conversation reminiscing about his favourite gay bar [Backstreet in Atlanta GA] and has grown into one of the largest and most interactive projects to preserve this history, with more than 5500 gay bar logos from around the world. While the project has largely garnered interest in the North American market, Art is striving to expand the global reach. For more information, visit the website: https://gaybarchives.com/ And click here to join Art's very successful Facebook group: https://lnkd.in/e4t8E28i #Pride365 #GayBarchives https://www.linkedin.com/posts/pride365-gaybarchives-ugcPost-7441821832745406465-m0Pm?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAALzRjsBj63Fzrui4agnH-2PDZdhOAWpIrE

@Art Smith Believe me, I had it up to here (motioning karate slice across throat) when they were all into sexuality equality and the reordering of letters and we’re like HELLO! WHAT ABOUT US? and OUR gender equality (this WAS when Roe V Wade MEANT something, that is). On one hand, sexuality and gender aren’t equal and sadly, putting them together worries some (gays and straights) including me but it was the safest and strongest way to lobby collectively, protest and protect our rights because many trans are then gay. The lawyer who successfully showed me how to assert a new birth certificate in LA’s Napoleonic Code was a gay man with the ACLU. He was a Prince. He worked knowing he was positive so that others might have a better end than he. Sadly, he was lost in the second great death wave of losses due to AIDS by the early 90s.

Watching Alphabet Soup begin was a nightmare in all the gay papers. Back then, it was ONLY L&G or G&L depending upon which gendered bar you got it. Then, the more militant lesbians demanded L first. Gay men, being more visible and physically harmed, felt in the Majority and wanted G&L. That wasn’t settled when the Bisexuals showed up and made everyone begin again! So, the addition of T just BLEW ALL SMALL MINDS (think very early 80s)! Once, we got there, lesbians were feeling disenfranchised and in a BOLD, BUT TERRIFYING MOVE, the Gays said, to every lesbian’s total disdain, “Ladies first”’!!! The room burst out into boos and yeahs in even distribution!!! What could they say now? They won.😂
BEFORE THERE WERE OUT TRANS SINGERS
I needed a theme song by which to live. This is the closest I came: https://youtu.be/e0iLZvm0DxQ?si=7Br5biM8azIKdAXf

Don’t ask AI if unprepared for the answers.
It began innocently enough when I pondered who the oldest living transman was. After several bios I knew of and read (which include a local musician of “note” with whom I worked gigs), most discovered later in life or, if they knew young and had intervention, they were still much younger than myself. To which AI then told me I was a kind of missing link of valuable insight into how I have witnessed transitioning and sexuality evolve over 6 decades (especially in this sin city of New Orleans). Plus, where I first planted my feet musically in New Orleans was on the cusp of where Punk Music meets New Wave as I made a music video then for MTV that never aired due to the Bassist suddenly dying at 29 mid process.😞 It then suggested that I contact several excellent choices for Archives, from National to local, and wrote customized letters to each that I added on, verified, and clarified. Between Jazz Archives locally and LGBT oral histories, I may be able to satisfy most of these emails that were sent and PROMPTLY 😳 responded to with great enthusiasm once gleaning what I possess and know. Who knew? There is, however, another axis in my multi-intersection story (that never gets simpler with age) and that is my testing as autistic at age 41. Oh, now THIS really puts me into a new kind of rarity, may I observe?!? BTW, I would LOVE to meet fellow trans autists so PLEASE introduce yourselves to me OUT HERE or somewhere “in here”. I’m all for BE-ing comfortable! Did you know that trans are 6 times more likely to be autistic, too? What can I say but I like to sit astride a lot of fences?😉

@Art Smith And I am here to ASSURE you we do. Ask ANYTHING you dare. I have had everything asked of me and I am too old to care about what others think, as IF that ever mattered. How about a quick genesis? My mom took steroids (Metacortin, a discontinued drug) for the worst allergies of her life during the entire 1st trimester. She was allergic to me. Consequently, during the key 6-12 week interval where the default body female receives testosterone to develop into a boy, things went awry. The first sure sign was my mother’s instincts waking her up to her child having carried the heavy kitchen stool across the house and set myself in front of the bathroom mirror. I had heaping gobs of shaving cream all over my face and ears with rivulets of blood streaming everywhere down my face. See, I had been modeling after dad and was using his double-edged razor. The hospital ER admitting me at 3 noticed how I was and regarded myself and made some comment regarding who I was role modeling. Confusion ensued. My WWII era parents learned to let me dress (I AM a Force of Nature…choice was not in their cards) as I liked lifelong much to the distress of neighbors and schools. Confusion still follows me today. I am consciously moving from confusion to confrontation (ever so gently, please) and explanation hopefully leading to comprehension and compassion. Dig?

@Pk Kulasegram Everyone knew I was trans by 3. I wasn’t diagnosed Asperger until 41. Did you know that trans are 6 times more likely to be autistic?
Tuesday Tools For Growth
Big ideas are great. But in the Syndicate, we want ideas that actually move. Your best business ideas do not just need inspiration. They need structure and tracking. This week’s tools are all about helping you plan smarter and promote more intentionally... Check out "Milanote" and "Bitly." I'm a visual person, so I really liked finding out about Milanote. It's a great tool for getting your ideas out of your head and into a visual plan. If your brand, content, launch, or next offer feels scattered, Milanote can help you map it all out visually, in a way that actually makes sense. It can help you organize your vision. like your content, launches, offers, and brand ideas, in one visual space. www.milanote.com Bitly helps you clean up your links and track what people are clicking. Because posting your offer, booking link, or community invite without tracking it is basically marketing with your eyes closed. Bitly helps you track your links so you can see what’s getting attention and what’s converting. You can use Bitly to track the attention you're getting. www.bitly.com Have you used either of these before? Drop a comment and tell us which one you would try first: Milanote for planning or Bitly for tracking... and how you could use it in your business this week. #TuesdayToolsForGrowth #LGBTQSuccessSyndicate #QueerEntrepreneurs #SmallBusinessGrowth #VisibilityMatters

I have used neither app. What would keep track of musical ideas and collate songs for collections (albums)?
Unnerved by trans negativity
At present, it feels dangerous to be trans. I desire to be my most genuine self online, but I feel negativity coming at me from unexpected directions due to a political movement. I found from a British fellow I follow that he feels similarly. He proposes a new start online and, to be honest, I have felt that spirit. He puts the concerns into quality perspective. BTW, he does make educational and entertaining content. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCAfKQNoaKc

@Scott Fullerton I was thinking you meant WRABEL. I have auditioned several tunes now. It’s a little heavy for my moment but good nevertheless.
