Welcome!
I created this group for those of us who strangely miss discussing literature—both good and bad. The main point is to help high schoolers and college students who DON’T really get literature and help them through those tests, discussions, and essays with ease. You’ll find many threads to post in and a thread to request a class to help out with a topic you may be struggling with. For those of you who just want to trash talk Hemingway or pledge your undying love for T.S. Eliot, there’s a place for you here. I’ll likely do sessions about authors and how garbage there are (or how bomb af I think they are). Theory rocked my entire foundation, so there will likely be threads dedicated to different theories for us all. I’m open to suggestions and criticism, but I do ask that you do not bombard the students who request help. That’s stressful and annoying and I will step in to stop it. People who consistently do this will get the boot.

@Nicole Thomason You’re approaching this the right way. Starting with core high-school texts and clear breakdowns builds trust fast, and separating student support from open literary discussion will scale much better long-term. Taking time to understand the platform before expanding is smart foundation always comes before growth. There is a real need for this, especially when the content is structured and easy to follow, which fits your teaching background well. If you’d ever like to exchange ideas around structure, onboarding, or growth when the time feels right, feel free to reach out via inbox. Happy to share thoughts and collaborate in a way that supports your vision for the space.

@Nicole Thomason That’s a very strong first move. An intro video will set expectations clearly and help the right people self-select into the space, which makes onboarding much smoother. You’re right Skool tends to skew more college-aged and adult learners, but that can actually work in your favor early on. They’re more vocal, more likely to request breakdowns, and can help shape the direction of your content before you scale further. Your approach is thoughtful and aligned with your teaching background. If you ever want to bounce ideas around as you build this out, feel free to message me happy to share insights in support of your vision.
