My note journey started with buying a few performing notes from Paperstac.com. I did this after I took the time to read two books to understand the concept of buying debt, sometimes at a discount, and the advantage of structuring your own financing: Jimmy Napier's Investing in Debt, and the George Antone's the Banker's Code. At the time, I just wanted to invest in a different alternative when crypto was the rage. One of those first notes became a non-performing note, during COVID, when I was not ready for that type of experience, but I held on and learned what its like to be on the other side of forfeiture, and I ended up with a house I didn't want in the first place and sold it. The relationship I developed with lawyers through that process has now become a source for paper investing. I am not an expert with notes, but the experience of investing in them helped me understand aspects of financing and servicing and being a bank. (All of this occurred before finding the Kwak Brothers and Caveman. :-) ) What I can offer is helping folks become more familiar with this area. Since then, I have met a community of note holders/investors, banks, and have bought "partials," as well as know of sources for brokering.
