BIG NEWS: First Expert Session is BOOKED!
Want to learn how to grow mushrooms? We’re hosting a live session on Thursday, May 21st where we’re going to walk through everything you need to know to get started. This is the first of many expert sessions I’m bringing into the Yardstead Society. The goal here is to build something you can keep coming back to… a place where you’re constantly learning, building new skills, and expanding what you’re doing at home. This call is free to join live, but we’re capping it at 100 people. If you can’t make it live, the recording will be saved inside the paid tier and added to the vault we’re building out. Over time, this will become a full library of sessions you can trust and come back to whenever you need. Add it to your calendar and grab your spot - SAVE YOUR SEAT HERE You won’t want to miss this one ✨ Have questions you want answered during the call, drop them in the comments here!

Start Here — How This Group Works
Hey friend! I'm so glad you're here. I'm Carolynne—the one behind every plan, testing every build with my husband Eric in our Alberta backyard, and running Hillside Market from our little homestead in Zone 3 Canada 🇨🇦. I created the Yardstead Society to support you in two ways: 1️⃣ Build Support (Free) Get help with your DIY projects from start to finish. Whether you're building a greenhouse, chicken coop, or backyard retreat, ask questions, share progress, and get guidance from the community. Eric and I are both here to help with build questions. 2️⃣ Yardstead Support (Paid Membership) Weekly calls with me, expert interview sessions, and access to resources for actually living the lifestyle—growing food, raising chickens, preserving your harvest, and working toward real self-sufficiency. 👋 Start by introducing yourself! Tell us where you're from, what you're building, or what you're hoping to grow or raise. Already finished a project? Post it under Progress Pics so we can celebrate with you. 📚 Explore the Classroom: - Build Spotlights – See what others have created - Project Planning Tools – Checklists and resources to help you succeed - Yardstead Resources – Growing, raising, and preserving (paid members) - Plus all Yardstead Society members get monthly discounts on guides and gear Tag me (@Carolynne Hill) or Eric (@Eric Hill) anytime with questions or to share what you're working on. Let's get building! ✨ — Carolynne PS: Say hi below! 👇

@Carolynne Hill They are so much fun. They have their own personalities and are adorable. They only get about knee high so not big and scary. They have up turned noses so they don’t tear up the ground like hogs do. The meat is closer to beef than pork because it’s a red meat. Only down fall is the amount of fat you have to take off. They do make good lard tho. The bacon is amazing! They are good mamas for the most part and are so careful around their babies not to lay on them like hogs can do. They coming running (waddling) when I call them. They love belly rubs and scratches!
