cool. what do you like in rock and alt rock? that covers such a wide range!
Hi!
Looks like a great group. I play guitar in a Journey tribute band and run a lot of our production other than FOH (which thankfully is someone else’s problem), so I’m always looking for communities where I can learn how to make my job(s) easier. Here’s a little rack I built for our band.

OMG Journey is one of my all time favorite bands. I've actually got their 2008 CD "Revelation" in my car right now (6-disc CD changer because I'm like way cool). I always told myself I'd only ever consider playing guitar in 3 cover bands: blink-182, Third Eye Blind, or Journey (maybe Joe Satriani but that's SO MUCH WORK).
What are you working on?
What is your current project that you are working on to make more money with your skills as a musician, producer, or composer? I’m currently building a catalog of covers. I’m releasing this summer on a new project that will generate online passive streaming revenue.

@Tim Maholic sweet!
Production is THE skill.
Are you learning how to produce inside a DAW like Ableton live or logic Pro? You can learn how to write songs, you can learn how to play your guitar, you can learn how to perform live, but the most important skill you could possibly learn is how to produce. Get inside of a DAW like Ableton live or logic pro and learn how to use that software. Understand signal chain and how to use all of the different plug-ins. My music career dramatically improved when I was able to take my ideas and bring them to life without anybody else’s assistance. Get out there and start producing!

interesting. I do get frustrated by my limitations with production. But I do like my current system: I record guitars and bass (occasionally guests play bass) pay a drummer to record remotely ($400 for 3 takes- audio and video) pay mixing engineer in Nashville ($150) pay for mastering (about $75) So each song costs me roughly $600-650. For how good these guys are at what they do, I think I would like to continue in this fashion. I appreciate their collaboration and insights. They make my music better. But I would also like to continue learning more about plug-ins, frequencies, and all the things I can do on my own to maximize my recordings

@Tim Maholic totally makes sense. hire out that ONE crucial instrument that's make or break and take care of the rest yourself
AI for album artwork
What do you all think about using AI art for album artwork? I have a bunch of friends who have done it and I myself. I’m going to do it for some releases if it makes sense and looks good. What are your thoughts?

All for it if you can make it look like it was not made by A.I. people are pretty good at spotting it currently, especially the kiddos
