🔎 Project Walkthrough: Mold Remediation & Painting Process 🎨
In this video, I take you inside a challenging project where we had to address mold remediation 🦠 and prepare surfaces for a professional painting finish 🖌️. The issues came from poor work by a previous contractor 🚧, which created serious mold problems that required careful attention. You’ll see how we document every step 📸, use the right products—like Sherwin-Williams Extreme Block Primer 🏗️ and M1 Advanced Mildew Treatment 🧴—and follow a thorough process ✅ to guarantee long-lasting results. Because this project is under warranty 📑 and tied to legal considerations ⚖️, precision and detail are absolutely critical. If you’re a professional 👷‍♂️ or DIYer 🏡, you’ll get insight into the systems and products 🔧 we use to handle difficult situations the right way. These are practices you can apply in your own projects to achieve reliable, professional results ⭐.

@Karla Mazy Absolutely 💯! Degreasing makes a huge difference—especially on trims and doors that haven’t been cleaned in a while. Skipping that step can cause problems later when sanding or painting. It’s one of those “extra” steps that actually saves time and gives way better results in the end. 👌🎨

@Mazy Baron That’s a great question! What you’re describing sounds like efflorescence (the white, salty-looking deposits caused by moisture moving through the block). The key thing to know is that it’s a symptom of an underlying moisture issue. ✅ The best long-term solution is to address the source of the water intrusion first (sealing, drainage, or waterproofing). ⚠️ For a temporary fix, you can remove the deposits with a solution like diluted ammonia or specialized efflorescence cleaner. If you go this route, please use proper safety gear—respirator, gloves, and eye protection. My recommendation: have a professional take a look, since using strong chemicals and working around moisture can be risky. It’s always better to be safe and get the problem solved properly before painting.
