Podcast Drop: Reflections on the TEDxThirdWard Stage with Dr. Amber Gunner
Semi-finalists — here’s something special for you. In this episode of the TEDxThirdWard podcast, Dr. Amber Gunner reflects on her own TEDx experience: the preparation, the challenges, and the insights she gained along the way. Her perspective is a powerful reminder that the TEDx stage is more than just a platform — it’s a process that transforms both the speaker and the audience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLvCGXG42e8 As you’re preparing your own submissions, take a listen and think about what lessons from her journey might apply to yours. What part of the TEDx process do you think will stretch you the most?

Thanks for this. I identify with the tendency of pushing all the research behind my idea and highlighting my professionalism. It's a good reminder to make sure we put our "essence" into the delivery and ensure the topic lands in a relatable way.
Share your BIG idea!
In 3 sentences or less, tell us the big idea you want to share on stage. Keep it short, clear, and powerful. After you post, read a few others and drop a quick comment: - What works well? - What could be sharper? This is your space to practice and support each other.
Share your BIG idea!

@Evan Marks Love this. There is so much wonderful emerging research on post-traumatic GROWTH. I worry social media not only make everyone think they have been traumatized, but also keeps them stuck in their trauma. We need people like you to help change the narrative.

@Arelia Johnson Thank you, I should probably specify romantic relationships. The challenges are those I state in the first sentence.
Introduce Yourself!
I’m Durrel K. Douglas, Curator of TEDxThirdWard, and I’m thrilled you’re here. This community is for dreamers, doers, and everyday storytellers who believe ideas can spark change. Let’s kick things off — introduce yourself in the comments: - Your name - Where you’re from - What bold idea or passion keeps you up at night I'll go first in the comments.

Hello everyone! My name is Emily Jamea. I am rooted here in Houston where I have been practicing as a sex and relationship for many years. My big idea and purpose in life is to help others create connection and cultivate passion. I am a firm believer that our lives are shaped by the quality of our relationships. I’ve seen how the loneliness epidemic and global sex recession are leaving too many people feeling disconnected and lost. By reimagining a familiar concept in a completely new way, I discovered a solution. I wrote a best-selling book about it and am hopeful to share it on the big stage. I am honored to be selected as a semi-finalist and so excited to learn from all of you!
