It is so cliché, but I am grateful for my family and my friends. I am also grateful to be living a life that "feels like me," if that makes sense.
🤔Do you know what is coming in and going out every month?
Yesterday we did an Instagram LIVE with one of our friends David and we were talking about the fundamentals of knowing what is coming in and going out every month. Having a budget can be an interesting topic... some people love it and some people hate it! I will admit it isn't my FAVORITE activity but seeing everything in one place is helpful for me to make more confident decisions and feel less stress when we spend. If you are feeling stuck with your money or struggle to keep and maintain a budget, you are not alone. Gabe share 3 simple way to assess your spending that I want to share here... 1️⃣ Pull up your bank statements and review all of your FIXED expenses. Things that don't change month to month. 2️⃣ Subtract that number from the amount you make every month to see what is left. We call this your miscellaneous money. 3️⃣ Clarify your next steps and take action ✨ If you are spending more than you make, it is time to practice radical honesty AND acceptance and identify areas to cut back/ increase your earning potential ✨ If you have a surplus, be thoughtful about where you want that money to go. Do you want to save more? Do you want to invest it in the stock market, continuing education, etc? Do you want to grow your emergency fund? ✨ If you break even, what opportunities can you capitalized on or are you comfortable here for awhile? If you consider yourself an EXPERT BUDGETER, would you share tips, tricks, favorite apps you use to make the process work for you. If you struggle, feel free to book a call with me or attend office hours. I would love to help you set up a system that works best for you. Happy Hump Day!

I love this! I'm probably in a rare category of tracking *everything* that comes in and goes out money-wise from month to month. I have a spreadsheet where I track all expenses and income and update it weekly or biweekly. While I don't have a budget per se, this practice has made me aware of my spending habits and helped me scale back at critical moments in life — and track my progress toward financial goals. (I actually started doing this while living with Laura in California. Our rent took up a significant part of my income at the time, and it was important to see where my money was being spent.) As a contractor/freelancer, this also helps me track my annual income as well as work-related expenses (making tax season a little more organized for me every year).
🚨 Guest Speaker ALERT!
We have an exciting guest speaker lined up for the group to discuss all things INVESTING! She has over 20 years in the industry, is a CFA (highest designation for investing professionals!) and has a brilliant way of breaking complex topics down into simple, actionable steps. Essentially she is our kind of person! Stay tuned for the official announcement, but trust us, you are not going to want to miss it! We are trying to coordinate days/times that work best for her. But also wanted to check in with the group to see what time would work for a majority of you. Still trying to figure out what works best for the majority.... it's always a chess game navigating calendars!

Generally speaking, evenings work best for me.
Lesson learned: Assessing your individual risk tolerance
Thank you so much for the "Investing 101" session this evening, Gabe & Laura! I was grateful to learn that many banking/investment platforms offer questionnaires to help you assess your individual risk tolerance when it comes to investing. Did not know that, and am excited to check it out. Thank you!

Get Ready to Be a Goal Getter!
Happy Money Monday Everyone! It is already clear we have a lot of people in the group who have accomplished some amazing financial goals... paid down debt, paid off student loans, travelled, purchased homes! In preparation for our Masterclass tomorrow on 🎯How to Become a Financial Goal Getter, I wanted to ask you all a question... ❓❓ What is one BIG financial goal you're working towards this year? And what challenges are you facing/ have you faced along the way? Share in the comments!

I want to continue saving toward purchasing a home. Not sure if the right opportunity for purchase will come along this year or next, but I want to continue preparing myself financially for that moment. In terms of challenges that've come up, I can sometimes face unexpected expenses (bigger things that pop up outside my budgeting) and need to reprioritize what I'm saving (or am able to save) in those months.
