AERIALS INTENSIVE · WEEK 2: Jump, Land, THEN Cartwheel
Woo Hoo, you’re ready for WEEK TWO! 🩵 Last week you learned the takeoff. This week we add the Cartwheel. Step 2 of the Aerial 4-Step System: - Jump, just like Step 1 - Land back on the front foot, and - Circle the arms back and around, then cartwheel out Here’s the part worth knowing before you watch the lesson. Most of your students will spend most of their time right here on Step 2. It’s the step you’ll keep coming back to, so it’s worth getting right. And the landing matters more than you’d think. Land square on one foot, then present the upper body. Never square the hips off to the audience. There’s a bonus video on the landing technique in this week’s module too. Don’t skip it! Head to the lesson here 👉 https://www.skool.com/acrodanceschool/classroom/fd206d18?md=df314c28eefc45ec884da4ed22b8ea80

@Melissa Klassen Thank you for your corrections, I'm sure they'll be happy to know they are doing a good job from a different voice than mine 😃 When you say to work on the back leg in the lunge do you mean in the preparatory lunge? I'll see them this evening in class and we'll work on it.🙏
Welcome to the 30-Day Aerials Intensive
Welcome to the 30-Day Aerials Intensive! 💥 I’m so glad you’re here. Over the next 30 days, we’re working through the Aerial 4-Step System together, one step a week. You’ll learn the step, teach it in your own class, and come back to tell us how it went. Start with the Welcome lesson. It explains exactly how this works 👉 https://www.skool.com/acrodanceschool/classroom/fd206d18?md=a114e6e8ecf44f92b59c85a4b0d57426 Then come back and post below. And after you post, leave a comment on the person above you. 👆 POST THIS IN THE COMMENTS I’M IN ✅ Where I’m starting from: The class I’ll be using for this Intensive: The ages of my students in this class: The biggest challenge or frustration I’m having with aerials right now: What I’m most excited to get out of this 30-Day Intensive: Where you’re starting from can be: brand new (never attempted aerials), fixing aerials, taking it from a run to a step, trying a new method, or something else. I’ve gone first below. Don't forget to comment on the teacher above you to show your support of your fellow colleagues:) Looking forward to reading your kick off post! 💜 Miss Melissa

Where I'm starting from: teaching aerials for the first time to a group pf teen students who started acro a little late. The class I'll be usign for this intensive: Wednesday 7:00-8:00 pm. Reacreational teens. The age of my students in this class: 14-16 years old. The biggest challenge or frustration: they are "old" and started late with acro. A couple of them, when get corrections often answer: "But I can do this way!" What I'm most excited to get out of this 30-days challenge: to learn a good way to teach aerials and get some experience on teaching it, looking for mistakes and find ways to correct mistake in a proper and useful way. They are so excited to start working on their aerials and I hope to be able to help them to achive their goal.

@Donna Hussey great that you can work 1 to 1 with a student! Hope you both will achive your goals. 🤩
📣 The 30-Day Aerials Intensive starts Thursday. Who’s in?
You asked, so we’re doing it. 💥 When I posted about aerials in here a while back, a lot of you put your hands up, and I’ve had messages ever since asking when it’s happening. The last time we did an aerials challenge together was back in 2021. It’s time. The 30-Day Aerials Intensive starts this Thursday, October 22. 💥🔥🤩 For 30 days, we’re working through the ADTA 4-Step System for teaching side aerials together, one step at a time. Here’s how it works: → A new lesson drops every Thursday. → You learn the step, then teach it in your own class that week. → You come back and tell us how it went: what worked, what didn’t, and what you saw. → You post your questions and student videos, so we all learn from what’s happening in real classes. Each lesson comes with clear instructions on how to run it in class, so you’ll know exactly what to do when you walk in. One thing up front: your students won’t have aerials in 30 days, and that’s not the goal. The goal is that you finish knowing exactly what to teach, in what order, and how to spot what’s going wrong. That’s what gets them there. More details are coming over the next few days. For now, I just want to know who’s in?! 💪🤓🤸‍♀️ 👇 Comment “I’m in” below, and tell me what's your biggest challenge or frustration with your aerials right now? See you Thursday! Miss Melissa

I'm in! My teen girls are ready for side aerials, so I think this would be the best way to start to teach it to them.
