Welcome to Your Course
I am using this platform to hold the course as an effort to move away from Facebook and to have a cohesive space that holds everything you and I need for a successful program. I think this will do the trick (but I am counting on your feedback to determine that). All the course info you will need is here: dates, links, videos of weekly calls, etc. Hopefully, it's intuitive enough to be useful and we will review it all in the first session. If you are open to it, take a moment to introduce yourself here to get things started. Maybe share where you live, your occupation, and what you want to accomplish in this course. Have fun with it and share a picture of something you are grateful for.

Hi, I am Elijah. I live in Seattle with my wife. I am 51 I spend 40hrs a week as a firmware test engineer at a giant hardware company. The rest of my time is spent as a martial artist, a professional improviser, a snowboard instructor, and a very amateur guitarist. I have raised 2 grown boys who both live nearby. In October my step dad died of cancer and I had to take over the care of my mother who suffers from Lewy body dementia. Neither of my parents saved any money or did the usual things. My mom and step dad spent years traveling the world and living in exotic places. They lived very full lives, and I am now feeling as if I am wasting my life by not following their examples. I am feeling like I should be out seeing the world instead of working to pay bills. And yet I love the life I have and am grateful for the gifts I have lucked into. I am looking to find more gratitude for what I have and less grieving what I feel like I lost.
Question about mindfulness
So this kind of feels like a smart ass question but it kept coming up for me when I read that definition of mindfulness. When I am watching TV or especially when I am playing a video game is that mindfulness? In both cases I feel like I am very much present and focused on the moment. It feels silly to think of those activities as mindfulness, but is that just me judging myself?
