For everyone who asked me to report back after I messed around with Zoom livestreaming… 😂 Yes, you CAN livestream directly from Zoom. I couldn't complete my YouTube test because I still had to get through YouTube's 24-hour livestream verification/wait, but I was able to configure everything and successfully stream to Facebook. 🙌 A few things I learned: 1️⃣ You need a paid Zoom plan. I'm on the first/cheapest paid tier. The free Basic plan doesn't give you this livestreaming option. To turn it on, go to: Zoom Settings → Meetings → Advanced Meeting Settings → Allow livestreaming Then choose which services you want to allow. Mine gives me Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and a custom livestreaming service. Once that's enabled, start your Zoom meeting and go to: More → Live Stream → Choose your platform Then Zoom walks you through connecting it. 2️⃣ You can also make it look more like a two-person podcast/interview. 🎙️ This is where Spotlight comes in. Once your guests are actually in the Zoom meeting, you can spotlight the host and guest you want featured. That tells Zoom which participants should stay prominently displayed instead of having whoever happens to speak take over the screen. So if you're interviewing somebody but also have other people inside the Zoom meeting, you can keep the host + guest as the focus instead of your layout jumping around every time somebody makes noise. 😂 You'll want to check your livestream/recording layout settings too if it's important that the other attendees never appear in the final stream or recording. 3️⃣ What I've actually tested so far: ✅ Zoom → Facebook worked ⏳ Zoom → YouTube wasn't ready for me yet ❓ Multiple platforms simultaneously — haven't tested it yet ⚠️ I had some lag on Facebook, so that's my next troubleshooting adventure. 😂 But the big takeaway: If you're already paying for Zoom, you may be able to livestream your interview or podcast-style Zoom directly to another platform without adding another piece of software.
