@Courtney Sensley that’s why needs to be big enough! For me every time I wanted to procrastinate I had to remember that I could never keep a job due to my health conditions. And I have so many goals of things that I want to achieve. So when I’m feeling lazy that is what pushes me. So ask yourself what is your why? That will be your motivator because you’re not gonna be motivated every day. @Essence Woodard

@Keiona Gadson love this answer because you’re not thinking about the money as a quick fix, you’re thinking about how to use it to build a stronger foundation for long-term growth. 👏🏽 One thing I’ll challenge you to think about is this: if you had the visibility, systems, and client acquisition strategy in place today, how much of this would become easier to solve on its own? A lot of business owners focus on funding first, but often the real unlock is learning how to consistently attract and convert clients. Once that piece is working, it becomes much easier to cover rent, invest in growth, and expand your network. I can already tell you have a clear vision for what you want to build, and I absolutely love the faith-based luxury concept. Keep that vision front and center because businesses that are built with purpose tend to have the strongest foundation. 🙏🏽✨

@Jatia Sanchez @Dejah Cruz I love this conversation because both of you touched on something that so many beauty professionals experience. School teaches us how to perform the service, pass the boards, and work on clients but building a profitable business is a completely different skill set. Marketing, sales, systems, client acquisition, retention, finances, leadership… most of us have to learn those things after we get licensed. Jatia, I think it’s powerful that even as an instructor and someone others look to for guidance, you’re still investing in your own growth. The best leaders never stop being students. 👏🏽 And Dejah, don’t let that learning curve discourage you. Every successful business owner started exactly where you are, trying to figure out how to wear all the hats at once. One thing I’ve learned is that mentorship gives you the information and it helps because it shortens the timeline. Instead of spending years figuring things out through trial and error, you get to learn from someone who’s already walked the path. You both have the right mindset, and honestly, that’s half the battle. 💕
