After almost 2 yrs of going back and forth for my self-employment track it is finally happening. It took a lot of research, reports, paper work back and forth. I was approved for EVERYTHING i asked for and is currently being ordered. If you’re going through the self-employment track -stick with it, don't get discouraged. Do your homework! It’s like a sales pitch on shark tank. Sell your idea to your case workers, justify everything down to the power cord. They are looking at wether it will be sustainable and if it has a high probability of failure. Choose a business that survived through covid, a business that you can do B2B and B2C. ELABORATE as much as you can! You got this!

This is going to be an awesome success story. Now that you have the equipment you need to scale your business. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

@Justin Zelenak We can work with that. Just keep working on getting the business launched again and we can start building your business credit. Here is a link to a video I did on Youtube, when I built my credit as a case study for you all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7A4hgTvfU4&t=499s
Are you a disabled veteran?
We just launched a cohort for people interested in using the VR&E Self-Employment track to help pay start-up costs for your business. This is a VA program and you may be eligible. There are others on in this community who have received funding to purchase equipment, software, tools, inventory, etc.... They will not buy a vehicle, give cash for operating capital, or buy property/pay rent. If you are interested, reply "Interested" in the comments and you will be invited to the private cohort where you can learn more about it.

@Maria Angela Forgey I see you are interested in business acquisition. Make sure to look at the course here on "How to Buy a Business".

Hi everyone. You should now have access to the course. Just click on the classroom tab and the VR&E Cohort (Prep). See image below. I will do a live session in the next week or two. Let me know what times might work best for everybody.
Need of a Land Survey - East Providence, RI
Good morning. I'm an East Providence resident and a 100% service-connected retired veteran. I am in need of a land survey because my neighbor is causing issues. I've been given 1 recommendation, but the cost is $3500 and that is way outside of my budget. Would anyone here have any recommendation? Thank you in advance. -Joe

Yeah, that seems outrageous. It might help if we understand the problem with the neighbor better. Is he trying to build too close to your property line?
Rollovers for Business Startups
Has anyone in this group used ROBS to fund their business? Anyone willing to share to pros and cons they experienced?

Hi @Dennis Scott I am aware of this method, but have never used it myself. I'm more familiar with a Self-Directed IRA. This could be a great vehicle for what you are using it for. You would likely want a CFP (certified financial planner), or a lawyer to make sure you are compliant with the transfer of funds from one qualifying asset to another. This is a lot like a 1031 exchange when you sell a property, then buy another "like" property. No taxes are taken out. If done incorrectly, you are subject to tax and early withdrawal penalties. Although I have a series 65, I am not a CFP.

@Dennis Scott Sorry for the delay, I did not see this. AS long as your company is 51% owned by service disabled veterans (which with ROBS it would be 100% anyway) then it should qualify. Good question though.

@Shiwan Tate Great field to get into, the biggest thing is to find a niche to separate yourself from the herd. Or you can go general and try to find a way to differentiate yourself.

Is this more for apartment rentals or to partner with short-term-rental companies like VRBO?
