Hello!
Hi, my name is Sara. I'm from Northeastern Wisconsin and I joined this community because my son and I recently moved to a rural area and want to learn to homestead and be more independent by growing our own food (fruit, veggies, ducks, goats, honey, maple syrup, mushrooms). By doing this, we want to grow closer to God and learn how to care for His creation as we are called to do. We are active at our local parish and are near the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion.

Glad to hear that are already on land! That is a huge step. How long have you been on the land?
Pope Leo’s encouragement
Hello, my son and I are excited to be part of this community. Could you please share how Pope Leo XIV encouraged catholics to homestead?

Great question, Sara! Yes, Pope Leo XIV extended his Apostolic Blessing to the Catholic Land Movement. The letter came from the Vatican's Secretariat of State on November 18, 2025, signed by Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra. In it, the Pope recalls the Apostolic Blessing originally granted by Pius XI to the Catholic Land Associations back in 1933, and extends that same blessing to the members of the Catholic Land Movement today, recognizing that they "faithfully carry forward the same apostolic work in our time." The Catholic Land Movement encourages Catholics to get back to the land and embrace a more rural life rooted in self-sufficiency, stewardship of creation, and living out the faith in a tangible, everyday way. So it's really encouraging to see the Holy Father affirm this work and bless those of us pursuing this path. Welcome to the community — excited to have you and your son here!

My name is Aaron, and that’s my brother Erick behind the camera. We’re building our homestead in Missouri with goats, chickens, bees, and soon a dairy cow. We’ve been here about two years and plan to continue building for the next decade. We created this community because we believe Catholic families are being called back to the land to live sustainably, create abundance from the bottom up, and orient our lives toward glorifying God. This is a place to share wisdom, visions, and practical steps as we build our futures together. Our first live meeting will be Wednesday, February 18th from 6–7 PM (Central Time). We’re excited to meet you, hear your story, and begin this journey together. Welcome! this is just the beginning.

It’s based on ideas from The Liturgy of the Land, and it really captures something I think a lot of us have been sensing for a while. We’re living in a fragmented age. Work separated from home. Prayer separated from work. Family squeezed between obligations. Somewhere along the way, families shifted from producing together to mostly consuming separately. And when that happened, something deeper weakened. When the land was lost… The household lost its center. This infographic lays out that contrast clearly — the modern dis-integrated pattern on one side, and the integrated Catholic homestead on the other. Not as an escape. Not as a trend. But as restoration. I’m curious — what part resonates most with you? Does this reflect what led you toward homesteading in the first place?
