Simple or Epic?
What seems to be working better for ME is to do larger works which capture more attention. I am a representational painter and I gravitate towards fine art. Since there is a lot of art out there to compete for attention in the Western Art genre, which is now my niche, I find that rather than doing quick paintings, doing more elaborate paintings on the larger scale is getting more attention and selling. And later they can become prints to sell. This is a 72 x 28 inch painting called “Bison Stampede”

Thank you, Pat! This painting is a commission. I have enjoyed painting larger lately. It does command a higher fee and it’s not too much more work usually. I have not yet figured out how to enter my art into an auction. But I am interested to try it.

Day 3 - 30 Day Challenge "Sell More Art!" 🎨
Day 3: Define Your Artistic Voice (We make now a separate post everyday otherwise it gets a bit messy) Now that you’ve explored your "why" behind creating art, it's time to clarify what makes your work unique. Your artistic voice is the distinct way you express yourself through your art, and it sets you apart in a crowded marketplace. Today's focus: We’ll be working on identifying your unique style and voice, so you can confidently communicate it to your audience. Questions to guide your reflection: 1. What recurring themes or subjects do you notice in your art? 2. How would you describe your style (e.g., abstract, realistic, surreal)? 3. What colors, textures, or mediums do you find yourself drawn to the most? 4. How does your personal life, culture, or experiences influence your work? 5. What do people say about your art? (Ask others or reflect on past feedback.) 6. If your art had a “voice,” how would it speak to someone? What story does it tell? Action Step: Spend 15 minutes reflecting on these questions and write down your thoughts. Don’t worry about being too specific—just capture the essence of your artistic style. This is about finding clarity, not perfection. Why this matters: Understanding your artistic voice allows you to communicate more effectively with your audience. It also makes it easier for potential buyers to connect with your work on a deeper level. People don't just buy art; they buy the story behind the art! Once you're done share with us your answers in the comments below 👇

1. What recurring themes or subjects do you notice in your art? Western Art/ Native American 2. How would you describe your style (e.g., abstract, realistic, surreal)? Realistic with some brushwork and textures 3. What colors, textures, or mediums do you find yourself drawn to the most? Full range of color depending on the subject matter. Oils 4. How does your personal life, culture, or experiences influence your work? A lot. I have been raised as a God fearing person who reads the Bible and tries to live by it. So I try to avoid art the promotes a message contrary to my beliefs. I love to show off beauty and historical events that people resonate with in my area. Native American works for me since I like the topic and was raised looking at westerns. 5. What do people say about your art? (Ask others or reflect on past feedback.)I usually get a favorable response. 6. If your art had a “voice,” how would it speak to someone? What story does it tell? My voice would say: “look at this beautiful person and how it was painted. Or “I can put myself right in the scene” since it is painted in a convincing way.”
