US Nationals and Senior Selection Criteria FAQ's
We are getting a few questions around Nationals and the Senior Selection Criteria, so we thought we would create an FAQ that will get updated as questions come in. Also, feel free to leave questions in the comments. Hope this helps. For Nationals: • Does the pool have starting blocks? Yes, you can look up the address in the invitation for more information on the pool. • Is there any sort of contingency plan if there is inclement weather? Like if it’s raining/ice and we have to do obstacles outside? “Rain, wind, or other adverse weather conditions or in any exceptional circumstances such as a broken or failing obstacle element, the Technical Delegates may postpone the competition, exclude obstacles, reduce the number of elements of an obstacle or declare it mandatory to start obstacles with hanging elements by a specific element, and any other measure to ensure the safety of the athletes including, for example, the use of ropes with knots to climb obstacles and anti-slip elements.” That is taken from UIPM rules, we will use this as a guide and look ahead at the weather as it gets closer to figure out the best course of action if needed (weather could also affect L/R as well). For the rankings: • Are we all starting at 0 until nationals? (I.e. World Champs 2025 isn’t being used or any of the prior 2025 events) : The selection criteria went live when it was published (October 5th). Some people will have points prior to Nationals, since there are non-WC/WCH events taking place before (e.g. PanAm Champs). • For the qualification, can you confirm that times/scores from prior events can be used for qualifying but the ranking points start from nationals 2025 onward for 2026? Ranking points start from the publication of the selection criteria. They were published on October 5th; the date has been corrected in the selection procedures themselves to reflect the publication date. For qualifying scores for WCs, scores must be achieved 6 months prior to the WC the athlete is attending. So any score within that window.

Regarding the new ranking system: are points earned from competitions before one becomes a USAPM member counted?

The registration page has said that you are going to add an option for room and board for at least a couple weeks now, is that still in the cards? Also will we be able to borrow or rent laser and fencing equipment on site?

Thanks for the response! As far as the fencing gear goes is there a requirement for it to be fie approved?
