@Michael Masdeo I know I’m super late to this post as I’m just scowering the page right now. But I agree that these were ready to harvest. Oysters are best to harvest when the edges are still slightly curved down. Once they flair up they really start dumping spores if I’m not mistaken, but they will just become more and more thin. And pink oysters already have such a short shelf life… such a tasty mushroom. Definitely my favorite breakfast mushroom, it is definitely wild how it has a bacon/ham flavor when sautéed.

Hello everyone, I’m grateful to be here. I’m feeling genuinely called to deepen my relationship with my food in a more conscious and hands-on way. Lately, I’ve started a new farmers market ritual that has become very meaningful to me. It’s bringing more appreciation, presence, and connection to the food I choose, prepare, and receive. In that spirit, learning to grow mushrooms feels like a meaningful next step. It feels practical, nourishing, grounding, fun, and even sacred. I was guided to this community by Elijah Woods, whom I trust deeply, after I shared my interest in purchasing a grow kit. After exploring the posts and watching Michael Crowe’s outstanding videos, I feel extremely confident that this was the right place to begin. I already find this space very welcoming, generous, and abundant. Happy to be here, and I’m looking forward to learning with you all. P.S. Starting with a California Blue Oyster Mushrooms grow kit.

Welcome! It’s awesome to have a community here with so many resources and people with so much knowledge. And equally awesome to see you’re on a journey to have a more mindful relationship with your food and cultivation! It’s become apparent to me that people in the mushroom growing community are super down to earth and helpful. 🤎
Hi everyone! Glad to be here.
Thought I’d introduce myself. After getting some blocks going a few years ago thanks to the Legend, Mr. Crowe, I’m hoping to up the scales soon and start a little side business. I discovered Lions Mane years ago after my dad was pretty far along with Frontotemporal Dementia, (before Bruce Willis made it cool). With years spent helping my dad in his pepper garden and then years spent in the cannabis industry, I was excited to start cultivating some gourmet fungi. A few years after my dad passed my brother was also diagnosed with FTD…it was at this time we learned there was a genetic mutation in the family.. I sent in my DNA and found I also carry this gene mutation and I’m nearing the same age (in a few months) that both of them were when they started showing symptoms… around 37yo. Anyhow, I’m feeling pressed for time and have been dying to get this going… On that note, Thank you, @Michael Crowe for getting this community started and being so generous with your knowledge and sharing your trials and tribulations. Here’s a few photos of some of my past blocks and a little art.
Hi everyone! Glad to be here.

@Paula Estes haha it does turn out great and it’s super simple to make. Those king trumpets just shred into those meaty strips easily with a fork. Seasoned and then cooked in a skillet, tossed in bbq sauce and then finished in the oven for a few min. Good stuff!

@Paula Estes thank you! I wish I could make more time to get the art supplies out more often!

Man I may have to get the hardcover too because they look sick. Judging it by its cover anyway haha. Been following your YouTube channel for a long time so I’m sure it’s gonna be filled with all kinds of great info.

These look great, I forget the strain I had gotten but I know mine didn’t have the long teeth. I’m gonna get both strains here soon. Will be interesting to see the difference in flavor and texture. Love it.
