I’ve been discussing this with friends today because this is a BIG change. If monetizing your YouTube channel is one of your goals, NOW is the time to get serious about it. Starting February 1, 2027, YouTube is doubling the requirements for new creators to qualify for ad revenue through the YouTube Partner Program: ➡️ 4,000 watch hours → 8,000 qualified watch hours within 12 months OR ➡️ 10 million Shorts views → 20 MILLION qualified Shorts views within 90 days The good news? If you’re already monetized in YPP before the change, YouTube says you will be grandfathered in under the current entry requirements. 🙌🏾 For Shorts creators, there’s another important change: beginning in 2027, you’ll need to maintain 10 million qualified Shorts views within a rolling 90-day period to earn from the Shorts Creator Pool for that month. Falling below that does not remove you from YPP or affect your other YPP earnings. So if you’ve been saying: “I’ll start my channel eventually…” “I’ll get consistent later…” “I’ll worry about monetization next year…” This is your sign to stop waiting. You still have several months before these new requirements take effect. Start creating. Start building those watch hours. Start learning what your audience wants now. And if you’re currently working toward monetization, drop your current watch hours below! 👇🏾 Let’s encourage each other and GET IT DONE before February! 🔥
