So, I find this repo that looks like it has some really good information and scripts. I drop it into Claude and go through the whole thing. Turns out, my work is actually better. Who knew ICM — and a whole lot of help and learning from everyone here — would put a 60-year-old Nana in the driver’s seat of AI? No more imposter syndrome for me. I can do this.

Ran a four-stage audit pipeline (my first real ICM build), assuming each stage got a fresh window. Nope. After the full run: 302.8k tokens — 281.3k of it transcript. Everything I engineered (CLAUDE.md, contracts, skills) was 25k. My architecture: 8% of the window. The chatter: 92%. One /clear: down to -282k. Messages: 137 tokens. It picked the run back up from the stage output folders without asking me anything, because my CLAUDE.md tells a fresh session to orient from artifacts, never from the conversation. (Protocol block in the comments if you want it.) So the files hold the state, but to run /clear, I have to do it between the stages? How are y'all automating the clear between stages? By hand at every gate? A wrapper running each stage as its own `claude -p`? Something else? Or does it not matter?

I just realized that the way I’ve been organizing files my entire life whether it’s on a thumb drive in my phone or on a computer was always a ICM methodology. I know this sounds crazy because obviously ICM and Jake are new to me. As I looked stress stressed out on how my harness and AI model where organizing all the information I gave them about ICM. I took a break and watched a couple movies and as I was looking through my picture folder and looking at my computer, I had this epiphany. The next step was to re-organize my folders with the terminology of an ICM folder for AI to read and me understand before completely screwing up something and getting lost in the sauce. Next- Add the .md addition to the sub folder system, same concept different media.

Small win, but I'll take it. I've been trying to get my head around the ICM process, so I picked a simple task: build a website. Starting out, it was unlike anything I've done. I do ops reporting in SQL — linear, one step after another — and my brain kept trying to force ICM into that shape. The output is what made it click. Claude Desktop on the left, Claude Code on the right. I scoped the prompt inside a Clief project holding the .md files from modules two and three, plus Clief's research paper. Scoped the site, reviewed the prompt, made a couple of adjustments, pasted it into Claude Code. What came back was a folder hierarchy with files inside it. And when I saw the site sitting in 03_build, the pattern finally made sense. The site isn't deployed. It's an aspiration at this point — I've owned the domain for years and never found the right thing to point at it. Maybe this is it. Small win. But it comes down to pattern recognition for me, and now I have my first pattern! Woot! Woot!
