My Spoof Comedy Short
Hey everyone! It's been a minute since I've posted in here. I thought I'd post my spoof short, The Driving Test! I last posted it when this class started. The film has some festival updates I'd love to share! And I'd love any feedback anyone has to give! I began submitting it to festivals in June and so far we've come home with awards from three festivals: Best Film, Best Actor, Best Writing, Best Special Effects, and Best Costumes - LOL JAX Film Fest Best Short - Golden Isles Film Fest Best Comedy - Texas Short Film Fest Password Protected: TDT2025

@Ellie Shoja Thank you! The awards are great! The part that sticks with me the most is the laughs at the screenings!
Rule 2?
Did you all get a chance to see rule 2? We would love to hear your feedback and questions. This is such a great team to build the course up to what YOU want to know about. Comment below! 👇🏽

This rule is fantastic! It greatly expands upon the description from in the book! It's so simple, but requires the vision and instinct to understand when the acknowledgement would make a joke better. I'd also assume that test audiences help greatly with deciding when to cut to a reaction or to leave it in a wide. A movie I suffered through for my thesis was airplane mode. In the first scene, it breaks rule #2 multiple times. The movie was made by Logan Paul and other popular viners from 2016. It's steals multiple jokes from Airplane! Watch at your own discretion

@Warren Leonhardt I appreciate the advice! There’s a few moments in my short that I feel could be improved using yours and David’s advice and the history of the wideshot in comedy on when to cut to coverage or stay wide. My fiancé and I both graduated from SCAD Savannah this past May. She’s 3D animation and I’m Film. I appreciate you sharing a bit of an insight to the animation world!
Ideas for practicing?
I’m just thinking out loud for myself, but I think I’m going to try practicing this class on my own by taking a rule and making a tik tok sketch DOING the rule or joke. Not thinking much about it, knowing it’ll get like 6 views, just to DO IT. Anyone down to follow each other on instagram or tik tok just to keep up with each other? Maybe I’ll make a separate comedy account on each platform for this to stay organized

Call with David Moved to 8/23
Hi MasterCrashers! I know, I know, we were raring to go for this Wednesday. But as per the poll, we are moving our meetings to Saturdays at 8:30am Los Angeles time. We'll post up another reminder closer to the day, but make sure to bring in all your questions. If we don't get to them in the call, make sure to have them written down somewhere so David can answer them in our community! Now if you've made it this far down my post... drop in the comments what you'd like to learn more about in this Saturday's call. 👇 The more people are interested in a topic the higher the chances of discussion!

As a producer on Superhero Movie, how hands on was David with the film? How did that film come about and what was it like bringing it to picture?
