Asymmetrical spinnaker
We fly our small kite in 18 knots of wind for the first time. All went well till the take down then all Hell broke lose. Our mistakes showed their ugly head and we broached badly. Laid flat as we scrambled to recover. Not a good finish to our race but new skills learned so not all lost. Fun day on the water.

When dose the penny drop?
Every sailor knows that feeling when you're learning a new skill—maybe it's tacking or reading the wind differently. You practice for weeks and nothing seems to stick, then one day it just clicks and suddenly you're doing it without thinking about it. The breakthrough wasn't the last practice session, it was all the ones before that built the foundation nobody sees. We're wired for linear results. In sailing, we see that all the time with folks learning to crew. They get frustrated because they're not progressing fast enough by their own measure. But the real work—the muscle memory, the intuition, the feel of the boat—that's happening quietly underneath while they think they're just spinning their wheels. Here's what I'm curious about though. When that click happens for you—when the compounding kicks in—what does it actually feel like in the moment? Is it sudden, or do you look back and realize it happened gradually while you weren't keeping score? And for folks reading this who are in that flat part right now, what's the one thing they should focus on instead of watching the scoreboard?

No Place Like Home ⛵️
Where is everyone from and what is the best thing about sailing in your area? I’m a lucky man. Living in the south east coast of England we have stunning white cliffs, tons of wildlife and a ship ton of diverse ports, including French ports, often only a day sail away. Strong tidal streams and large tidal ranges paired up a busy shipping channel about 10nm offshore makes for an amazing training ground and quality sailing. I’d love to hear about your local haunts. What do you love about your area? Cheers, G

@Graeme Willis Oh if you liked the East Coast plan on a visit to the West Coast. Mountains, fiords, waterfalls and wild nature just at your fingertips. Whales, Orcas and Grizzly bears at your fingertips while Bald Egals sore over head. Am I proud of my surroundings you can say guilty.
