Learning from an Interrupted Sleep
Sometimes I’ve had to interrupt my daughter’s sleep for different reasons. Today, I needed to get her ready for a doctor’s appointment so I woke her up. Normally, if someone wakes you up in the middle of your sleep, it is not a pleasant experience. Most of us would frown or react with frustration. But not my daughter. No matter how deeply asleep she is, when I wake her, she meets me with the most beautiful, gummy smile. And she holds that smile as long as I stay present with her, almost as if she understands there is a reason. But the moment my attention shifts, that smile slowly fades into a cry. And it stirred something in me. How do I respond when life interrupts me?When things do not go as I planned? What if I chose to meet every moment, even the uncomfortable ones, with openness first? Through her, I am learning that peace begins with how I choose to meet the moment. 🤍 Reflection Have you ever noticed how you respond when your plans are interrupted?
