@Pamela McReynolds mess ups are part of the artist journey. it tells me you are doing something than nothing at all. besides you are learning something new and it will take a bit of time to get a hang of it. as for paper... while having quality paper makes the experience more intuitive and even a time saver, you can practice on better quality wood pulp paper or find some that has the content of half cotton and half paper pulp. try that before going onto the 100% cotton paper. when i teach in person i will use the back of an already painted image to demo on. so the students can see how it looks on arches. saves paper since i really don't need to keeps the demos.

@Pamela McReynolds one of the things i need to get is fabriano artistico series.... when it comes time. have a few pads of arches and wanting to use up the sheets of winsor and newton.
