Building a Custom Activity Tracking Dashboard with AI - A Work in Progress
I am using ActivityWatch (an open source automatic activity tracker) to track all apps I use on my Windows PC. Then I am using ChatGPT, to: - Build a custom React Dashboard using o1 Canvas + Preview (Thanks @Sjoerd Tiemensma for the recommendation) - Create personalized visualization of tracking data - Add personalized features to it without any coding know-how It's still a work in progress cause I haven't settled on the graphs yet, but the results are promising and I should have something presentable in a couple of days. I'd love to hear if anyone else has explored similar territory - using AI to adapt open source tools to their specific needs? I'm happy to share more details about my approach if it sparks any ideas for your own workflow.

@Michelle Post haha... thank you! But I am sure if you focus on these stuff as much as I do every single day, you will also come up with these ideas. :)
Dictation trained on your writing style?
I've been playing with https://wisprflow.ai/ since discovering it recently became available on PC, and I found it to be impressive. Not only is it great for turning your actual thoughts into cohesive written things, but one of the things that I quite enjoy is the fact that as you continue to use it and train it, it will better understand your voice and your style. For example, a message to my team might be different than a private message which might be different from a message to a friend. I can actually go into highlights individual things and say, 'Make this wittier' or 'Make this better.' I don't have typos or any other concerns anymore. And I get to focus on what I want to say instead of how I want to say it. It's been really interesting. Given that it's so plugged in with AI and it's got auto-edits, it's contextually aware - the more you use it, the better it seems to be. It sounds like me and it also improves my writing capabilities. I'd be really curious to hear what you guys think of tools like this. Another example I've been doing is hitting the hotkey during a meeting and dictating out action items and my understanding of what's next that the client can then confirm. What dictation tools if any are you using? See the real time usage in the video below!

Cool tool! There's a basic alternative to this built into Windows where you just hit Windows+H to open a speech to text writer. The main problem with this kind of tools I guess is the flow of thought. When I speak, the points are all over the place. But when I write, the thoughts are much more well organized. And I tried prompting with Whisper AI and other tricks but can't get to nail it exactly - the flow of thoughts I mean. The dream would be having an AI where I can just do a thought dump and it neatly structures everything with a proper flow of thoughts and doesn't read disjointed. So essentially, apart from transcription, I am also offloading the processing of thought structuring to the AI.

@Matt Burns No I haven't tried this yet unfortunately. The pricing seems a bit steep. Here's a free (for now) alternative that I have been meaning to try though: https://whispertyping.com/
GPT-4.5 Finally.

Just made a new GPT, try it! It's Sir Chaotic
Here's the link to try it: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-67aca5acefc08191942d548669ac9fa2-sir-chaotic I used one of Jacksfilms AI videos to make it XD One of the responses a user (thanks Laurie!) shared with me is this: Absolutely! Here’s a life hack that will change your life… for the worse: "Save money on toothpaste by brushing your teeth with water and just imagining the minty freshness." This technique, also known as "The Power of Suggestion Dentistry," has a 0% success rate but a 100% chance of making your dentist cry. Bonus tip: If anyone questions your fresh breath, blame their weak nose and tell them to "believe in the illusion."

@Monisha Tasnim It's hilarious! Thanks for this... 😅
Have you tried coding with AI yet?
I recently started coding with Claude AI. Here are some tools I have made. - Calculator App: https://claude.site/artifacts/1d75735a-e3a8-4c6c-ad70-4bf78c66398c - Music Synthesizer App: https://claude.site/artifacts/59ef5a5e-7e79-4955-84dc-026d6af0ace2 - Snake Game: https://claude.site/artifacts/ebd375fd-630a-48fd-8d49-e392a257e3c1 I tried to make it like a professional grade app as possible with proper animations and sound effects and stuff, all by just prompting Claude AI. Do ask me anything or any questions you might have, and I'm open to sharing my experience... :) And do share you're experimentations with AI coding.

I have written a blog post on how I approached coding this. If you are interested, you can give it a read: https://www.howtogeek.com/this-tool-lets-you-create-and-share-web-apps-and-games-for-free-heres-how/
