Welcome to Languages through Music Skool!
Hey LTM fam! Thanks so much for joining. I'm trying out this platform (700+ masterclass students in!) because Squarespace seems to be lacking on community vibe and the calendar function. I'd like people to be able connect via languages they are learning, sharing resources or favourite tunes with ease. I'm not a hi-tech person, I'm a language & teacher person 😅 so please humour me while we build this new and friendlier platform together. It's a constantly evolving process- from classrooms to festivals, to Udemy, to Squarespace- and now here! I might keep content on my website for now, and just offer this to people who want that extra community support- no one wants another Facebook or LinkedIn group in their lives, right? Tell us- your name, where you are in the world 🌍, which languages you speak. are learning 🗣, and your favourite music/artists to listen to 🎶! I'll go first: 👋🏽 Desta! 🇬🇧 London! 🌳I speak English, French, Portuguese, Spanish pretty well 🥣 My Thai, Turkish, Tigrinya is a bit flakey. 🧞‍♀️My dream is to get good in those three, plus Amharic, Swahili, Kirundi, Mandarin, Japanese! 🇧🇷I'm a huge fan of Brazilian music- Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Tim Maia...

@Belinda Duncan welcome, Belinda! Thanks for sharing! I used to love singing in a choir at school. Here's a playlist for Spanish! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5YXIY3wv7VXJaBbwVurKog?si=f87db08ef65a4ebb

https://open.spotify.com/episode/1RKGdeVaUxPcZwh57kpeTg?si=Lo9bQoJFT2mvtZaKis8TRA I’m so happy to welcome Sandra Gasana, aka Umurutasaté, to the podcast. This amazing artist, journalist, and teacher is the embodiment of Languages through Music! Singing in eight languages and speaking "6.5," she reminds us that language is most vibrant when it is truly lived. Our conversation dances between Addis, Montreal, and Dakar via Amharic, French, and one day-- Wolof! #umuratasaté #journalist #teacher #montreal #multilingual #performer

New Podcast Episode: LTM ft. Kathy Kurious
https://open.spotify.com/episode/3B1cGUCPE9m5Y75e9OShnY?si=f6da6f462be248f9 I met Kathy Kurious at The Polyglot Conference in Taipei, in November 2025, and we immediately connected over a love of music, hip-hop in particular, and, of course, languages. In this chat we travel to Sesame Street, we keep Portland weird, and we learn about some of the books Kathy has translated, including The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living (a New York Times bestseller), and Renegade Rhymes: Rap Music, Narrative, and Knowledge in Taiwan. Kathy is a super accomplished translator, a dancer, and a deejay who has a lot to teach us about the importance of staying kurious. Xie xie, Kathy!! #kathykurious #translator #linguist #deejay #polyglot
